The wrestling coaches of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference conducted voting for the Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year. Edinboro swept all three awards as Gregor Gillespie took home Wrestler of the Year, Chris Honeycutt was voted Rookie of the year and Tim Flynn captured Coach of the year award.

Gillespie (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) earned his second-straight Athlete of the Year award with a strong regular season and a fifth-place finish at the NCAA I National Championships after moving up a weight class to 157 pounds. During the 2007-08 campaign, Gillespie captured the PSAC Tournament's Outstanding Wrestler, four PSAC Wrestler of the Week awards and was recognized three times as the Eastern Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week. The Fighting Scot junior compiled a 37-4 season and also defended his Eastern Wrestling League Title from 2007 en route to becoming a three-time All-American. Additionally, he became just the sixth Edinboro wrestler to earn All-America honors at least three times.

Honeycutt (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward) was selected as Rookie of the Year after going 26-10 at 184 pounds in his first season with four falls and six major decisions. Honeycutt finished second at EWL's after a hard fought 10-8 loss to West Virginia junior Kurt Brenner. His EWL performance earned him an automatic bid to the National Tournament where he went 1-2, losing by fall at 4:04 to 11th-seeded Rocco Caponi of Virginia before picking up a 4-0 decision over Matt Grevelinger of Brown in the wrestlebacks. He was eliminated via a late takedown by Stanford’s Zack Giesen, dropping a 5-3 decision. The Fighting Scot freshman also received the EWL Freshman of the Year Award, becoming just the fourth Edinboro grappler to do so and the first since Josh Koscheck was honored in 1999.

Flynn took an unprecedented 10 wrestlers to the national meet this season. Six of Flynn's wrestlers earned automatic bids after finishing in the top two at EWL's while the other four Fighting Scots received wild card entries. Flynn's squad also captured its sixth consecutive EWL Championship and third-straight PSAC crown. Edinboro has taken 10 of the last 11 EWL crowns while garnering nine of the last 11 PSAC titles. Flynn has also guided Edinboro to its third straight undefeated EWL record. The Fighting Scot grapplers finished the 2007-2008 campaign with an 11-3 record and a 6-0 mark in EWL matches.
