Riley, Taylor each repeat as Players of the Week

Lock Haven, Pa. - Bloomsburg’s Amanda Riley and Shippensburg’s Kristina Taylor both repeated as the PSAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week this week, Riley in the Eastern Division and Taylor in the Western Division. Both led their respective teams to PSAC divisional title-clinching wins this past week, and both squads will be the top seeds from their respective divisions in the PSAC Field Hockey Tournament, which will be contested October 30-31 at Shippensburg.      


PSAC East Player of the Week
Amanda Riley, Bloomsburg
Sophomore, Forward
Tannersville, Pa./Pocono Mountain East

Riley scored three goals and recorded a pair of assists for a total of eight points to help lead Bloomsburg to a 2-0 week with wins over East Stroudsburg and Catawba. In a PSAC East showdown with second place East Stroudsburg on Friday, Riley netted a goal and recorded an assist to lead the Huskies to a 4-0 win, which clinched the PSAC East title for the Huskies. She then tallied two goals and added another assist in an 8-0 win over Catawba on Sunday to improve the Huskies’ record to 16-1 overall. Riley leads the PSAC in both points and goals.


PSAC West Player of the Week
Kristina Taylor, Shippensburg
Sophomore, Forward
Long Pond, Pa./Pocono Mountain West

Taylor earns her third PSAC West Player of the Week award of the season and her second straight after netting a natural hat trick to account for all three Shippensburg goals in a 3-0 win over IUP on Sautrday afternoon that clinched the PSAC West title for the Lady Raiders along with the right to host the upcoming PSAC Tournament. It was the second hat trick of the season for Taylor and her sixth multi-goal game of the year. She broke a scoreless tie by hitting home a penalty corner in the 31st minute and then made it 2-0 with a goal in the 41st minute just after halftime. She wrapped up the scoring with her third goal of the game, this one unassisted, in the 64th minute. Taylor ranks second in the PSAC in both points and goals.
