Schmader shot a two-day total of 140 to medal at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California University on Sunday and Monday. The tournament took place at the par-72 Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon, Pa.
Schmader's total was four strokes better than a pair of second-place finishers, including Ryan Kennedy of IUP, in the 13-team tournament. Schmader established a three-stroke lead after the first 18 holes by firing a blistering 6-under 66, then finished the action on Monday with a two-over 74.
Only a junior, Schmader has won nine individual tournaments in his Clarion career, including three so far this fall. His performance led Clarion (604) in a third-place team showing, falling behind PSAC foes IUP (581) and California (600).
