Mansfield's Yuseff Carr led the Mountaineers to a 10-point win over Bowie State in their season opener, which included coming off the bench injured to help clinch the game and for his efforts, he is the PSAC East Player of the Week for the first week, of the season. East Stroudsburg's Duane Johnson, who is one of four freshmen likely to see significant minutes this year for the Warriors, is the East Freshman of the Week. Mercyhurst's Heiden Ratner, in his first game as a Laker, recorded a double-double with 10 assists and he is this year's inaugural PSAC West Player of the Week. There is no PSAC West Freshman of the Week this week as there were no nominations.



PSAC Players of the Week - Nov. 17

PSAC East Player of the Week
Yuseff Carr, Mansfield
F, Jr.,     New York, N.Y./East Transit Tech

Carr scored a game-high 23 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds while also coming up big down the stretch for Mansfield in a season-opening 83-73 win over Bowie State on Sunday. Carr scored his 23 points on a 10-of-15 shooting from the floor and was also 3-of-4 from the free throw line in 30 minutes of play. He also contributed a game-high four steals and had just two turnovers. Carr was 5-of-6 from the floor in the second half, which included a dunk off a fast break while limping with 1:36 to play to end a Bowie rally that had cut the lead to five points with him out of the game due to cramps. 
 

PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Duane Johnson, East Stroudsburg
F, Fr.,     Lansdowne, Pa./Penn Wood

In his first collegiate game, Johnson scored 14 points  in a 97-48 win over Penn State-Schuylkill on Sunday. He made 6-of-7 shots from the floor, including a three-pointer, and also grabbed three rebounds, had three steals and just one turnover in 18 minutes of play. Johnson, who was one of four freshmen that saw significant minutes on Sunday, also had contributed an assist and a blocked shot.
 

PSAC West Player of the Week
Heiden Ratner, Mercyhurst
G, Jr.,     Las Vegas, Nev./Silverado


In his first game as a Laker, Ratner posted a double-double with 15 points, tied for a team-high, and 10 assists in a 98-64 win for Mercyhurst over Penn State-Greater Allegheny. The James Madison transfer shot 50 percent from the floor (4-for-8) and also made 3-of-7 from three-point range. He also contributed three rebounds, four steals, and was 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Ratner had just three turnovers against his 10 assists in only 24 minutes of action.
