Lock Haven, Pa. - Shippensburg swept both the PSAC Men’s and Women’s Swimmer of the Week awards this week as two swimmers stood out at the Red Raiders trip to Division I-filled Patriot Invitational last weekend hosted by George Mason. Shane Wolter captured the Men’s Swimmer of the Week while Julia Brownrigg is awarded the Women’s Swimmer of the Week award.
PSAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Shane Wolter, Shippensburg

Wolter picked up three NCAA ‘B’ provisional qualifying times, coming within just under two seconds of an ‘A’ automatic qualifying time in the 1,650 freestyle, which he won, at the Patriot Invitational hosted by Division I George Mason this past weekend. In the championship-format event, Wolter won the 1,650 free in 15:59.91, just missing the NCAA ‘A’ standard of 15:58.09 and besting the Division I-laded field in the event by seven full seconds. Wolter also finished second in the 500 free in an NCAA ‘B’ time of 4:36.06 and also finished ninth, winning the ‘B’ final, in the 400 IM with a ‘B’ time of 4:07.68. He also helped the 400 free relay team to a sixth place finish.
PSAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week

Brownrigg posted three NCAA ‘B’ provisional qualifying times in all three events in which she swam and also helped contribute to two top 10 finishes in relay events as Shippensburg competed at the Patriot Invitational hosted by Division I George Mason. Brownrigg posted ‘B’ times in the 100 and 200 backstrokes and the 200 IM and also swam on the 200 and 800 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams, helping lead the 200 free team to a sixth place finish and the 800 free team to seventh place. Her time of :58.36 in the 100 back was good for a fourth place finish in the championship-format Invitational and that mark also broke the previous Shippensburg school record of :58.96. Her time of 2:06.58 in the 200 back won the ‘B’ final, which gave her a ninth place finish overall in the event and she also finished 11th (third in the ‘B’ final) in the 200 IM with a ‘B’ time of 2:11.40. The 200 free relay team’s time of 1:37.74 was just over one and a half second off of an NCAA ‘B’ time in the event.
