PSAC Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week - 1

Bloomsburg freshman KRISTEN BONITO and California (Pa.) junior HELENA VANEYSENDEYK are the spring's first PSAC women' tennis athletes of the week. Bonito won a pair of matches in the Huskies' first match of the spring while VanEysendeyk and registered a perfect 10-0 record in five dual matches so far this spring.
PSAC East Player of the Week

Bonito won both of her singles and doubles match in Bloomsburg's spring opener, a 6-3 loss to Slippery Rock. The freshman was the only Bloom player to win both of her matches on the day. In double, she teamed with Katie Hasyn to defeat Slippery Rock's Samantha Blackburn and Jessica Hilborn, 8-5. She was also just one of two players to win her singles match, as she defeated Rock's Casey Runyan at No. 6 singles in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.

VanEysendeyk is off to a 10-0 start to the spring season, with five wins each in singles and doubles. Those have included four combined wins against Division I opponents Georgetown and Youngstown State. Three of her singles wins have come in three sets, including a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win over the No. 34-ranked player in the country. While being teamed with freshman Alina Stanila in doubles play, she has lost only nine combined games in her five doubles matches.
