Matt Moley – Bloomsburg
Jr, 157 lbs
Phoenixville (Spring-Ford)

Moley pulled off an upset over long time rival and top ranked Gregor Gillespie of Edinboro in claiming the Eastern Wrestling League Championship at 157 lbs. on Saturday. Moley started off the match with a takedown just 10 seconds in, and would add another to make it a 4-1 lead after one period. He then added a third takedown during the second, and while Gillespie put up a rally, Moley was able to hold him off for an 8-5 victory. The win gave Gillespie his first loss of the season and gave Moley his first career victory against Gillespie.

To reach the finals, Moley pinned Ollie Underwood of Lock Haven in 2:17 to open up the tournament and then defeated Hadley Harrison of Clarion, 3-1, in the semifinals.

With the EWL Championship, Moley qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third straight season and was named tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler. Moley and teammates George Hickman and Ian Moser will finish out their season March 19th-21st at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.
