PSAC Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week - 7

California’s NINA KOWALSKI and Bloomsburg’s KRISTEN BONITO won all of their matches this week, helping their squads remain unbeaten in conference play. Their stellar play has earned them acclaim as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in Women’s Tennis.
Western Division
Nina Kowalski - California
Sophomore
Hofheim, Germany
Kowalski was 6-0 in three California matches, helping her Vulcan squad pick up three wins and clinch the No. 1 seed in the PSAC-West for the fifth straight season. She won all three of her singles matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 victories vs. IUP and Shippensburg. With doubles partner Axelle Fernandez, she claimed wins at the No. 2 spot, losing only two points in the three matches. Kowalski and Fernandez are 6-0 on the season and Kowalski improved to 17-7, overall, in doubles matches. She carries a 19-2 mark in singles play.
Eastern Division
Kristen Bonito - Bloomsburg
Freshman
Bridgewater, Mass. (Coyle Cassidy Memorial)
Bonito won all four of her matches as Bloomsburg won a pair of PSAC-Eastern Division matches last week. She began the week with wins at No. 4 singles and No. 5 doubles in a 9-0 triumph over Millersville. Her victories were instrumental in the Huskies 5-4 victory over Kutztown, as she paired with Katie Hasyn for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles and registered a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 5 singles. The freshman upped her marks to 7-1 in singles play and 10-1 in doubles for the season.
