PSAC Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week - 8
Clarion’s KASSIE LEUSCHEL and Bloomsburg’s LAURA SULLIVAN were nearly untouchable with their sold play, earning accolades as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in Women’s Tennis.
Western Division
Kassie Leuschel - Clarion
Senior
St. Marys (Elk County Catholic)
Leuschel concluded her career at Clarion by winning all four of her matches and leading her squad to a pair of 9-0 victories. At No. 2 singles she registered a 6-0, 6-0 win against Shippensburg and a 6-0, 6-1 win against Seton Hill. With teammate Jaclyn Metzter, the tandem allowed just one point to their opponents in a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles. The Golden Eagles finished off the 2008-09 campaign with a 10-7 dual meet record.
Eastern Division
Laura Sullivan - Bloomsburg
Sophomore
Dingman’s Ferry (Delaware Valley)
Sullivan went 4-0 in a pair of Bloomsburg matches last week. She picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles in a 6-3 loss to Concordia and a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles in a 9-0 win over East Stroudsburg. In addition, she and doubles partner Andrea Malatesta surrendered just one point in winning both matches at No. 3.
