A total of six PSAC softball teams were selected to play in the NCAA Tournament, which begins this Friday, May 8 and culminates on May 25. PSAC Central and tournament champion Lock Haven as well as PSAC East champion Kutztown will both host the NCAA Atlantic Region subregionals this weekend. The winners of each subregional will play next weekend in a best-of-three Super Regional for a trip to the NCAA Division II Women's College World Series.

Both Lock Haven and Kutztown will host a pair of PSAC teams in their four-team subregional, which will follow a double elimination format. Lock Haven will host California (Pa.) and Shippensburg out of the PSAC as well as Bowie State out of the CIAA. Lock Haven will take on Bowie State while California and Shippensburg will square off on Friday. The winners and losers from Friday's game will play on Saturday with the subregional championship game scheduled for Sunday. In the other subregional, Kutztown will host West Chester and Bloomsburg from the PSAC as well as West Virginia Wesleyan out of the WVIAC. Kutztown will play West Chester while Bloomsburg will play West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, with the winners and losers meetings Saturday and the championship game on Sunday as well.

Lock Haven has won three straight NCAA regional championships and made three straight trips to the NCAA Women's College World Series, producing a national championship in 2006 and a national runner-up finish in 2007. This year's World Series will be held May 21-25 in Salem, Va.
