Mansfield's Yuseff Carr is this week's PSAC East Player of the Week after he averaged a double-double last week while East Stroudsburg's Terrance King is once again the PSAC East Freshman of the Week after helping lead the Warriors to a 2-0 week and into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division. For the second straight week, there are Co-Players of the Week in the PSAC West with IUP's Darryl Webb and Clarion's Shameel Carty taking the honors after leading their respective teams to 2-0 weeks. Gannon's Tanner Furno is the PSAC West Freshman of the Week for the second straight week.

PSAC East Player of the Week
Yuseff Carr, Mansfield
F, Jr., New York, N.Y./East Transit Tech
Carr averaged a double-double in a 1-1 week for the Mountaineers, which left them in a three-way tie for second place in the PSAC East. Carr put up an average of 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per g ame while converting on 51.4 percent of his field goal attempts (18-for-35). He also averaged 2.0 blocks per game. Carr scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in an overtime loss to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday and then posted a game-high 18 points and nine boards in Mansfield’s win over Millersville on Saturday.
PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Terrance King, East Stroudsburg
F, Fr., Bushkill, Pa./East Stroudsburg North
King averaged 12.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in two wins last week for East Stroudsburg, which gave the Warriors sole possession of first place in the PSAC East. He shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from the floor and 75 percent (6-for-8) from the free throw line. In an overtime win over Mansfield on Wednesday, King scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and also had two blocks and two steals and scored six of ESU’s first eight points in the overtime period. He then scored 11 points, as he was one of five Warriors in double figures, and had seven rebounds in Saturday’s win over West Chester.
PSAC West Co-Player of the Week
Shameel Carty, Clarion
G/F, Jr., Queens, N.Y./Holy Cross
Carty averaged 18.0 points and 9.0 rebounds despite coming off the bench in both games last week to help lead Clarion to a 2-0 week and a current five-game winning streak. He shot 47.4 percent from the floor (9-for-19) and 16-of-18 from the free throw line (88.9 percent) for the Golden Eagles, who sit alone in second place in the PSAC West at 5-1. He posted a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 77-75 over Mercyhurst, scoring nine of Clarion’s final 14 points while going 7-of-10 from the floor and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. He then chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds in Saturday’s win over Edinboro, going 7-for-8 from the free throw line.
PSAC West Co-Player of the Week
Darryl Webb, IUP
F, Jr., Elkridge, Md./Long Reach
Webb once again averaged a double-double for the week with 18.5 points and 11.5 rebounds to help the Crimson Hawks remain unbeaten in PSAC West play with wins over California and Slippery Rock. He made 12-of-25 shots from the floor (48 percent) and 11-of-15 free throws (73.3 percent) and also averaged 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks. Webb posted 15 points and eight rebounds in Wednesday’s win over the Vulcans and then recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 22 points and 15 boards to go along with three assists in Saturday’s win over The Rock.
PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Tanner Furno, Gannon
F, Fr., Columbus, Ohio/Whetstone
Furno averaged 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to help Gannon to a pair of wins last week to move into third place in the PSAC West. In Gannon’s 61-60 win over Edinboro, he scored all five of his points and had four rebounds in the second half as the Golden Knights erased a 17-point deficit. He also had five points and a season-high seven boards in 21 minutes of action in Saturday’s win over Lock Haven.
PSAC Team Notes
Bloomsburg Huskies
The Huskies ended their six-game losing streak, defeating Shippensburg 59-44 on Wednesday and upsetting seventh-ranked Kutztown 70-58 on Saturday…After a low-scoring first half against the Red Raiders, BU exploded for 40 points in the second half to gain the 15-point win…Sr. F Adon El recorded his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Sr. G Ruben Britt led all scorers with 17 points, also grabbing nine rebounds...In the upset of the Golden Bears, the Huskies forced 24 turnovers and allowed just one player to reach double-figures in scoring…Four Huskies scored in double-figures, led by So. G Trevon Johnson who had 20...So. F Larry Webster had 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks while Britt had 10 points and five steals and forced Stephen Dennis into 10 turnovers…During the week, the Huskies allowed an average of just 51 points per game to teams that were averaging 67 (Shippensburg) and 85 (Kutztown) on the season.
California Vulcans
After opening the season with a 12-3 non-conference record, Cal U has lost its first six PSAC West games - a first in recent program history…The Vulcans last victory came on Jan. 10 in a PSAC Crossover against Shippensburg…Against nationally-ranked IUP on Wednesday, Sr. G Jerial Nixon and Jr. F Andrew Young combined for 55 points and 16 rebounds…Nixon later posted his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday against Mercyhurst…Over the last five games, Nixon is averaging 18.0 points after scoring only 9.2 points in the first 16 games of the season…The Vulcans trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half before taking a 57-56 lead against the Lakers…During the current six-game skid, Cal U has lost by an average of less than seven points per game with two one-point losses.
Cheyney Wolves
Cheyney went 3-0 this past week with wins over Millersville, Shippensburg and Lincoln...Kevin Presbery scored 11 straight points for the Wolves en route to the five point Cheyney win over Millersville...Against Shippensburg Cheyney was perfect from the charity stripe hitting 6-6 down the stretch to preserve the victory....Against Lincoln the Wolves had built a double digit lead in the second half and the Lions came storming back but Cheyney was able to prevail...Cheyney dominated from the charity stripe converting 26-37 compared to 13-18 for the Lions...Cheyney travels to Kutztown and Bloomsburg this week for a pair of key PSAC East contests.
Clarion Golden Eagles
Clarion is 5-1 in the PSAC-West for the first time since 2004…The Golden Eagles are 9-1 at home and need one more home victory to reach 10 wins at home for the first time since going 13-1 in 2005…Shameel Carty tied his career high with 24 points Wed. vs. Mercyhurst while recording his fourth double-double of the season. Carty is averaging a team-best 18 ppg while adding 7.4 rpg in PSAC-West play with all five of his PSAC-West appearances coming off the bench…Mike Sherry scored a season-high 19 points vs. Edinboro Saturday and is 10 points shy of 800 in his career…PG Lloyd Harrison had now scored in double figures in 12 straight games and is avg. 15.8 ppg over that span. He also has recorded a season-high 9 rebounds in 3 of his past five games including Sat. vs. Edinboro.
East Stroudsburg Warriors
ESU leads the PSAC East at 5-1 entering the final game of the first half, Wednesday at Millersville...Won two home games this week, vs. Mansfield (67-65, OT) and West Chester (89-78)...Has won five straight since falling 87-84 at Kutztown in conference opener...18-1 overall record ties best 19-game start in school history (1941-42)...Does not have a player in PSAC's top 20 in scoring (Sr. G Andy Heimbach, 23rd, 13.3) or top 10 in rebounding (Jr. F Mike Tobin, 11th, 7.2) but leads PSAC in scoring (83.7) and is second in rebounding margin (+7.4)...Tobin scored career-high 22 points vs. WCU and is averaging 14.4 ppg over last eight games - giving Warriors their second double figure scorer (10.3 ppg)...Sr. G Robby Pines had career-high 12 assists vs. WCU, assisting on all five FG in 12-2 run to open the second half, and leads PSAC in assists (6.7) and assist-to-turnover ratio (2.6).
Edinboro Fighting Scots
Edinboro had its entire roster dressed for the first time this season at Clarion...The Clarion game was Edinboro's 19th this season...Vlad Kovalevsky returned a week ago from knee surgery which forced him to miss the first 16 games...Fr. Chris Klimchock and Anthony Lytle saw limited action at Clarion after missing the last seven and three games, respectively. The duo had combined for 20 starts…With losses at Gannon and Clarion the Fighting Scots fell to 2-4 in the PSAC West...The last time Edinboro won just two of its first six league games came in 1992-93, when they started 2-6…The loss to Clarion snapped a five-game winning streak against the Golden Eagles…Cory Somerville has scored in double figures in 11 straight games…Justin Moore pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds at Clarion. Moore has moved into 22nd place in career rebounds with 511.
Gannon Golden Knights
Gannon went a perfect 2-0 last week, posting a home victory against Edinboro (61-60) and road decision at Lock Haven (51-48)...The Golden Knights are 5-0 in games decided by four points or less this season...Gannon overcame a 17-point deficit with two minutes left in the first half against Edinboro...The Golden Knights held Lock Haven to 48 points, marking the third time this season they have held an opponent under 50 points...Gannon has not won or lost more than two games in a row this season...Jr. F Travis Brannen recorded his third double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds against Edinboro. He had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the second half...Sr. Alfonso Scandrett scored a career-high 16 points off the bench against Edinboro...Gannon is now 16-0 all-time against Lock Haven, including a 3-0 mark at the Thomas Fieldhouse.
IUP Crimson Hawks
IUP improved to 6-0 in the PSAC West with wins over California and Slippery Rock, its fastest start in division play since the 1994-95 team won its first eight…The Crimson Hawks began the week No. 9 in the NABC poll and No. 1 in the Atlantic Region…IUP set a school record with only two turnovers in its 71-59 win over the Vulcans while posting its 13th straight home victory…The Crimson Hawks are 23-2 at Memorial Field House the past two years…Darryl Webb had his 11th double-double of the season and 31st of his career with 22 points and 15 rebounds in an 83-74 win at Slippery Rock and ranks 16th in school history with 1,163 points…Thomas Young had 19 points in both games and is averaging 19.8 in PSAC West contests…Julian Sanders moved into a tie for seventh in school history with 117 career 3-pointers…IUP has made a 3-pointer in 462 games.
Kutztown Golden Bears
Stephen Dennis became the all-time KU leader in foul shots made when he made his first FT against Bloomsburg with 16:56 remaining in the opening half…Dennis holds three KU school records: field goals made (739), points (2,078) and free throws made (525)…Dennis is in seventh place on the PSAC all-time scoring list…Ryan Washington has grabbed 10 or more rebounds 12 times this season…Washington and Dennis have scored 20 or more points in the same game twice this season…Tamir Johnson had 14 points and 14 rebounds in KU's win over West Chester…Dennis has scored 20 or more points in nine straight games…Kutztown has won 25 straight home games at Keystone Arena…The Golden Bears host Cheyney to close out the first half of the PSAC East schedule on Wednesday…Kutztown has won the last three games against Cheyney by an average of six points.
Lock Haven Bald Eagles
After opening PSAC West play 2-0, the Bald Eagles have dropped four straight games and went 0-2 last week...LHU is now 5-12 overall and 2-4 in league action...A bright spot for Lock Haven continues to be So. F Eric Brennan. He's averaging 17.4 games and has scored in double figures in 19 straight contests dating back to the final two games of his rookie year last season...Sr. Warren Christian has certainly made a name for himself as one of the league's best shot-blocker. Last year in his first season with LHU he had 45 and already has 43 this year. His 88 blocks are the second-most in Lock Haven men's history. Christian leads the PSAC in blocks with 2.5/game...Brennan's 17.4 points/game is sixth-best in the league.
Mansfield Mountaineers
The Mountaineers played a couple nail-bitters during the week suffering a 67-65 overtime loss at East Stroudsburg before outlasting Millersville 67-64 in Decker Gymnasium…Ryan Callahan had his streak of 20+ point games end at three when he was held to 10 points in a win over Millersville…Callahan now has 972 points in his career including 941 at Mansfield since transferring from Wagner after his freshman season…Yuseff Carr extended his streak of game scoring in double-figures on 21 and has eight double-doubles on the season. The 6-6, 285 Carr played 41 minutes in Mansfield's overtime loss at East Stroudsburg.
Mercyhurst Lakers
Mercyhurst (13-6, 3-3 PSAC West) split a pair of road contests, falling 77-75 at Clarion before picking up the Lakers first conference road win of the season with a 61-60 decision at California…Sr. G Nnamdi Nnadili averaged nearly twice his season average in the two games, hitting 9-of-20 from the field, including 7-of-12 from behind the arc to post 14.0 ppg…It marked his first back-to-back double-digit performance since recording double-figures in the first three games of the year…The Lakers have posted more 3-pointers than their opponents in 12 of 19 games this season…Since beginning PSAC West play, the Lakers have outperformed opponents at the free-throw line on just one occasion (vs LHU)…The Lakers are 0-3 in the division when trailing at halftime…Head coach Gary Manchel can tie the program mark for all-time victories (106) with a win on Wednesday when Mercyhurst hosts crosstown rival Gannon to close out the first schedule rotation.
Millersville Marauders
Millersville suffered a pair of single-digit road defeats last week, dropping the team to 7-12...Six of Millersville's last seven games have been decided by fewer than 10 points, and other than a 20-point loss to Kutztown on Jan. 16, Millersville's last four losses have been by an average of four points...Millersville's defense has held opponents to fewer than 70 points in four-straight games, and the 67 points allowed to Mansfield was tied for the fewest points scored by the Mountaineers all year...After going scoreless on Jan. 3, Sr. Jason Blake has scored double-figures in eight-straight games. In that stretch, he is averaging 15.75 points per game...Senior Alen Ahmetovic has recorded seven or more rebounds in six-straight games...Jim Kelleher scored a career-high 11 points at Mansfield. Of his 21 field goals made, 18 have been 3-pointers. He has taken only six two-point shots this year.
Shippensburg Red Raiders
Shippensburg dropped a pair of games this week to Bloomsburg and Cheyney…So. Craig Van Scyoc has led Shippensburg in scoring for three out of the last four games and is the team's only player averaging double figures in conference play (10.0 ppg)…Head coach Dave Springer is on an indefinite leave of absence from the program due to medical reasons…Assistant coach Mike Nestor will be in charge of the team while Springer is recovering…The Red Raiders start a three-game road trip on Wednesday in which they will face West Chester, Mansfield and Millersville.
Slippery Rock - The Rock
Maron Brown finished two rebounds shy of an eighth straight "double-double" Saturday night, when he scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds vs. ninth-ranked Indiana...Brown recorded his team-best 10th D-D last Wednesday vs. Lock Haven...Jabril Bailey scored a game-high 26 points vs. Indiana...Saturday's game marked the second straight game Michael Evans Jr. failed to make a 3-point shot...Evans has made at least one trey in 44 of 48 Rock games the last two seasons...Evans Jr. ranks fifth on SRU's career 3-pointers made with 110...Kevin Reynolds set a school record for most wins by a Rock coach in his first two seasons when The Rock beat Lock Haven last Wednesday. Reynolds owns a 34-14 record as The Rock's head coach.
West Chester Golden Rams
West Chester dropped two league contests against a pair of nationally ranked opponents on the road. The Golden Rams lost at No. 7 Kutztown, 80-69, and lost at No. 22 East Stroudsburg, 89-78…West Chester scored 49 points in the second half against ESU, but shot just 25 percent from the floor in the final 20 minutes…Ralph Hegamin scored his 1,000th career point as a Golden Ram in the loss to Kutztown, becoming the 22nd player in school history to reach that milestone…Hegamin also has 576 career rebounds in just over 2 ½ years in the purple & gold…Kenneth St. George has 1,155 career points entering this week's action…He is closing in on 15th all-time in school history in scoring…Kehinde Roberts has 964 career points…He is 36 points away from reaching 1,000 as well…Should he do that this season, West Chester would have three active players all over 1,000 career points.
