Mercyhurst's Josh Shields went 4-0 this past weekend on his way to being honored as the PSAC Athlete of the Week.

Shields put forth an impressive effort to go 4-0 and was crowned the champion of the 165-pound bracket at the 2010 Super Region II Tournament held at Pitt-Johnstown this past week. The title was the second straight for Shields.
Shields was dominant in winning his weight class. He won his opening round match by a 7-0 count over Richard Manwarren of St. Andrews Presbyterian, then won by fall over Trevor Sanford of Anderson in 4:45.
In the semifinals he posted a 10-0 shutout over Brett Terry of Gannon, advancing to face sixth-ranked Jason Varilek of Belmont Abbey in the finals. There he continued his shutout streak, winning the championship match over sixth-ranked Jason Varilek of Belmont Abbey.
The four wins for Shields raises his record to 34-3 on the season and extends his win streak to 18 matches. He remains unbeaten against Division II competition.
Shields will next be in action March 12th-13th at the NCAA Division II Championships in Omaha, Nebraska.
