PSAC Softball Athletes of the Week - 4
Lock Haven, Pa. - Millersville and Bloomsburg swept the PSAC East and PSAC Central weekly awards this week as Kelly Fitzgerald and Sarah Signore of Millersville are the PSAC East Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after helping lead the Marauders to a 7-2 record last week. Bloomsburg’s Lacy Mauro and Shavaun Fisher are the PSAC Central Player and Pitcher of the Week after they helped the Huskies to a 4-1 record last weekend. Slippery Rock’s Jessica Kortz hit for a “home run cycle” by hitting solo, two-run, three-run and grand slam homers last weekend and for that is the PSAC West Player of the Week while California’s Maria Greco is the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week.
PSAC East Player of the Week
Kelly Fitzgerald, Millersville

Fitzgerald helped Millersville to a 7-2 week by hitting .414 (12-for-29) with three home runs and 10 RBI and five runs scored. She slugged at a .793 clip and reached base at a .414 clip. She recorded four multiple-hit games. Against Georgian Court on Wednesday, she went 2-for-3 with two RBI. She then recorded the first four-RBI game of her career in an 8-0 win over Seton Hill on Friday, going 2-for-3 with her first round-tripper of the year. She continued her tear on Saturday with a 3-for-4 performance with a home run and three RBI against Glenville State and wrapped up the week with her third home run of the weekend in a win over Davis & Elkins on Sunday. For the weekend, she went 7-for-18 with all three home runs and eight RBI at the Salem Invitational, which seems to be a favorite spot for her as she had gone 10-for-17 with nine RBI in the same tournament last year.
PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Sarah Signore, Millersville

Waynesboro, Pa./Greencastle-Antrim
Signore compiled a 3-1 record with a 1.54 ERA in four starts last week for the Marauders. She threw complete games in three of her four starts, including one shutout, struck out 26 and walked five and gave up 15 hits and five earned runs in 22.2 innings of work. She started the week last Tuesday by throwing 5.2 innings and allowing five hits and one run while striking out nine in a 2-1 win over Bowie State. She then went five innings and gave up just one run with four punchouts and no walks in a 9-1 win over Georgian Court on Wednesday. Signore just missed out on a no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Seton Hill on Friday, tossing a complete game, two-hit shutout, striking out six and walking just one. She took a no-no into the sixth inning before allowing back-to-back singles. She suffered her lone loss of the week despite giving up only four hits in six innings and striking out seven in a 3-0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan.
PSAC Central Player of the Week
Lacy Mauro, Bloomsburg

Mauro hit .625 in five games last weekend for Bloomsburg at the Salem Invitational, helping the Huskies go 4-1. She went 10-for-16 with six runs scored, eight RBI and an .813 slugging percentage with three doubles. She hit in all five games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance with two runs and an RBI against West Liberty. She was also 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI against Alderson-Broaddus. Mauro also knocked in three runs, scored two and was 2-for-3 against Charleston.
PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week
Shavaun Fisher, Bloomsburg
Junior, P
Coplay, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic
Fisher went 2-1 with a 1.78 ERA at the Salem Invitational, allowing six runs, five earned and 13 hits while striking out 28 and walking just three in 19.2 innings of work. She threw a complete-game, eight-inning three-hitter with 11 strikeouts and just one walk, allowing just one unearned run in a 2-1 win over Glenville State. She also tossed a five-inning complete game, one-hit shutout with nine strikouts in a win over West Liberty before falling to Fairmont State, allowing five runs in 6.2 innings despite striking out eight.
PSAC West Player of the Week
Jessica Kortz, Slippery Rock

Kortz hit .727 (8-for-11) with five home runs and 16 RBI with an astounding 2.091 slugging percentage in a 3-2 week last week for Slippery Rock. She also scored seven runs and compiled a .786 on-base percentage for an astronomical 2.877 OPS. For the weekend, she hit a home run of every type - a solo, two-run, three-run and grand slam. She hit a two-run homer, a three-run homer and a grand slam on the same day, Saturday, in two games. Against Davis & Elkins, she went 2-for-2 with a two-run shot and four RBI. Later in the day, against Ohio Valley, Kortz went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and a grand slam. In the final game of the weekend against Virginia State, she went 4-for-4 with a solo and a two-run home run and five RBI.
PSAC West Pitcher of the Week
Maria Greco, California
Junior, P
Pickering, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic
Greco appeared in four out of California’s five games last weekend at the Salem Invitational, going 2-1 with a 0.86 ERA while striking out 28 and walking just one in 16.1 innings of work and holding opponents to a .103 average. She opened the weeking by throwing 2.2 inning of hitless relief while striking out seven to earn the win out of the bullpen against Wheeling Jesuit. Greco then came up on the short end of a 2-1 loss to Alderson-Broaddus despite throwing a complete game two-hitter in which she struck out 12 and allowing just one earned run. She picked up her second win of the weekend out the bullpen once again by throwing 6.1 innings and allowing just two hits, one run while striking out nine in a 6-5 win over Davis & Elkins.
