NCAA Tournament Quick Hits
- This marks the third straight year that a PSAC team has represented the Atlantic Region in the NCAA Elite Eight and IUP is the third different team in as many years to represent the PSAC and the region. California went two years ago while Gannon went last year.
- IUP will be looking for the PSAC’s first win at the Elite Eight since 2002, when IUP topped Northwest Missouri State in the national quarterfinals.
- The PSAC has had one national champion in its history, Cheyney in 1978. That also marked the last and only time a PSAC team has appeared in the national championship game.
- IUP and California are responsible for the PSAC’s last four appearances beyond the quarterfinal round. The Crimson Hawks made it to the semfinals before falling in 2002 and 1995 while the Vulcans made to the semis in both 1996 and 1992.
- IUP has the most wins of any team in the Elite Eight this year and is tied with Midwestern State, a potential semifinal opponent, for the fewest losses with two.
