PSAC Baseball Athletes of the Week - 5
Lock Haven, Pa. - Kutztown’s Shayne Houck earns his second PSAC East Player of the Week award of the year after helping the Golden Bears to a 5-1 week. Millersville’s Forrest Mengle is this week’s PSAC East Pitcher of the Week after not yielding a single earned run in nine innings of work last week, including an extra-inning complete game effort. IUP’s Paul Bingham became the school record holder in career hits and stolen bases and is the PSAC West Player of the Week after helping the Crimson Hawks to a 3-1 record last week. Slippery Rock’s George Hebert is the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week after his effort helped Slippery Rock to a win in its series opener against Gannon.
PSAC East Player of the Week
Shayne Houck, Kutztown

Houck earns his second PSAC East Player of the Week award of the year after hitting .529 on the week with three home runs, nine RBI and 10 runs scored. He had a 1.105 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage for a 1.676 OPS as he helped Kutztown to a 5-1 week. He had home runs in three straight games as he homered in the second game against East Stroudsburg and in both games against Mansfield. He had at least one hit in five of his six games and at least two hits in four games. His best game came in a 10-2 win over Mansfield on Saturday in which he went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.
PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Forrest Mengle, Millersville

Mengle did not allow an earned run in nine innings of work last week for Millersville, yielding just four hits and one unearned run while picking up a complete game victory against Bloomsburg. The senior southpaw made a relief appearance against West Chester earlier in the week, pitching one perfect inning in a loss. He then threw an eight-inning complete game in the series opener against Bloomsburg, helping the Marauders to a 2-1 win. He surrendered only four hits and one unearned run, striking out three and walking just one. Mengle has allowed just three earned runs over his last 28 innings of work.
PSAC West Player of the Week
Paul Bingham, IUP
Senior, SS
Hanover, Pa./South Western
Bingham hit .571 (8-for-14) with two doubles, a triple, five runs scored and seven RBI in a 3-1 week for IUP. He had an on-base percentage of .563 and a slugging percentage of .857 and set school records for career hits with 243 and stolen bases with 70 after going 4-for-4 on stolen bases. Bingham went 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBI in a 7-4 win over Lock Haven in the first game on Wednesday and then had two doubles, a run scored and an RBI in a 2-0 win in the nightcap. He scored three runs and drove in two and had a pair of stolen bases in a twinbill split against Mercyhurst on Saturday.
PSAC West Pitcher of the Week

Hebert allowed just one unearned run on four hits while striking out eight and walking two in a complete game effort to help Slippery Rock win its series opener, 4-1 against Gannon as the The Rock won three out of four games against the Golden Knights. Gannon, which started the series tied for first place in the PSAC West and hitting .302 as a team, hit just .174 against Hebert.
