PSAC Softball Athletes of the Week - 5
Lock Haven, Pa. - Four of the six players honored this week as PSAC Softball Players/Pitchers of the Week are first-time honorees this year. Kutztown’s Nicole Henninger is the PSAC East Player of the Week after compiling an OPS of over 2.500 last week while West Chester’s Missy Schwartz is the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week after picking up half of West Chester’s wins in an 8-0 week for the Golden Rams. IUP’s Megan McCormick is the PSAC Central Player of the Week for the second time this year after she helped the Crimson Hawks to a 5-1 record last week, while Bloomsburg Shavaun Fisher is the PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week after going 4-0 last week. California’s Danielle Easton was just percentage points shy of a 2.500 OPS last week and is this week’s PSAC West Player of the Week after helping the Vulcans to a 4-0 record last week. Gannon’s Megan Dragon is the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week after tossing an eight-inning complete game shutout to lead the Golden Knights to a win over Lock Haven last week.
PSAC East Player of the Week
Nicole Henninger, Kutztown

Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg
Henninger hit .636 (7-for-11) and put up a 2.000 slugging percentage by hitting five home runs to help Kutztown to a 3-1 week. Henninger scored seven runs and drove in eight on the week and also reached base at a .750 clip for an OPS of 2.750. She was also intentionally walked four times. Henninger hit two home runs in both games of a doubleheader sweep of Millersville. Her two-out, two-run blast in the top of the seventh inning in the first game was the difference in a 6-5 win for Kutztown after the Golden Bears had trailed 5-0. Her two-run dinger in the first game against East Stroudsburg was also the difference in a 2-0 win for the Bears.
PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Missy Schwartz, West Chester
Freshman, P
Norwood, Pa./Interboro
Schwartz went 4-0 with a 0.61 ERA in four appearances (three starts) last week for the Golden Rams, recording half of West Chester’s win in an 8-0 week for the Rams. She tossed two complete games, including one shutout, and allowed just two earned runs (eight runs total) in 23.0 innings while allowing 19 hits and just one extra-base hit.. She struck out 13. Her complete game shutout against East Stroudsburg in the second game on Sunday gave the Golden Rams sole possession of first place in the PSAC East. Earlier in the week, also threw five no-hit innings in a win over Bowie State before being relieved and tossed a complete game in a win at USP.
PSAC Central Player of the Week
Megan McCormick, IUP
Sophomore, 1B
Evans City, Pa./Seneca Valley
McCormick hit .556 (10-for-18) and had a 1.222 slugging percentage in six games last week for IUP, helping the Crimson Hawks to a 5-1 record. Of her 10 hits, eight went for extra bases, including six doubles and two home runs, and she also had nine RBI and scored five runs. In the doubleheader against Clarion, she went a combined 5-for-5 with four RBI. In a doubleheader split with Slippery Rock, she went 3-for-7 with four RBI and then went 2-for-6 and knocked in a single run in the doubleheader sweep of Lock Haven.
PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week
Shavaun Fisher, Bloomsburg

Coplay, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic
Fisher earns the PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week award for the second straight week after going 4-0 with a 1.02 ERA in five appearances for the Huskies, who went 5-0 in the games that she appeared in. For the week, she struck out 37 in 27.1 innings and allowed just four earned runs while walking just six. She started the week with a complete game effort against Lock Haven, picking up the win by allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out 11. She then came out of the bullpen in the second game against the Lady Eagles and went 2.1 scoreless frames, allowing just one hit and striking out five as the Huskies earned the twinbill sweep. Fisher then picked up wins in both ends of the doubleheader against Mercyhurst on Saturday, hurling a complete game in the opener in which she allowed two earned runs while striking out seven. She then tossed four innings out of the bullpen in the nightcap, allowing four hits and no runs. She wrapped up the week with a complete game against Clarion on Sunday, allowing five hits and one run while striking out 11.
PSAC West Player of the Week
Danielle Easton, California

Easton helped California to a 4-0 record last week as she hit .727 (8-for-11) with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine runs scored in PSAC West doubleheader sweeps over Edinboro and Clarion. For the week, she posted a 1.727 slugging percentage and a .769 on-base percentage, adding up to an amazing 2.496 OPS. In the first game against Edinboro, she went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and a run. She then smacked a pair of home runs in the nightcap, going 3-for-3 with four RBI and three runs scored. In the opener against Clarion, she had an RBI and scored two runs and then had a two-run double and a two-run homer in the second game.
PSAC West Pitcher of the Week
Megan Dragon, Gannon
Freshman, P
Ashtabula, Ohio/Edgewood
In her first career start against a PSAC team, Dragon threw an eight-inning complete game, three-hit shutout as Gannon defeated Lock Haven 1-0 on Saturday. The freshman struck out 15 in the win and walked none as only three Lock Haven players advanced past first base in the game and none made it past second base. The win improved her to 7-1 on the year and the complete game effort was her ninth of the season.
