California's Clare McSweeney and East Stroudsburg's Trina Carito have been awarded this week's PSAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for their impressive efforts that landed them atop Division II.

California’s Clare McSweeney set the school record in the 800 meter run this past at the Joe Hilton Fast Times hosted by North Carolina. She crossed the finish line in 2:10.23 seconds to finish fourth overall in the event behind only runners from Duke, UNC and Columbia. Her time is the second fastest time in Division II, which makes her the fastest in the PSAC. Her time eclipsed the previous school record set in 2008 by Holly Urban by nearly two full seconds.

East Stroudsburg’s Trina Carito participated at the Bloomsburg Husky Open and won the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 4,538 points. Carito won by 410 points over the second-place finisher, Nicole Silva of Harvard. In her winning efforts Carito finished first in the long jump, javelin, and 800, second in high jump and 200m, third in the shot put and fourth in 100m hurdles. She has made two appearances at the NCAA championships, the heptathlon in 2008 and pentathlon in 2010. She was the PSAC champion in those events both years, and the indoor triple jump in 2008. Carito has been a constant atop the leader boards placing in the top eight at the PSAC championships in 15 individual events and five relays in her career.
