PSAC Softball Athletes of the Week - 8
Lock Haven, Pa. - In the final PSAC softball weekly awards of the season, a pair of Marauders sweep this week’s East awards as Lindsay Hosier is the Player of the Week and Alicia Hughes is the Pitcher of the Week after both played big parts in Millersville’s 4-2 week. IUP sweeps the weekly awards in the PSAC Central as Megan McCormick is the Player of the Week for the third time this year while teammate Erin Holloway earns her first Pitcher of the Week honor of the season. California’s Alyson Johnson is the West Player of the Week after her performance helped Cal clinch the outright PSAC West title while Gannon’s Megan Dragon is the West Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year.
PSAC East Player of the Week
Lindsay Hosier, Millersville

Hosier hit .480 (12-for-25) with two home runs, 11 RBI, three doubles and 13 runs scored to help Millersville conclude its season with a 4-2 record last week as the Marauders came up just one game shy of qualifying for the PSAC Tournament. She slugged at an .840 clip and reached base at a .519 clip. In the process, she broke the school single season records for stolen bases (25) and doubles (16) and also shattered the mark for career doubles with 41. Hosier went a combined 5-for-6 with seven runs scored and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Lincoln last Wednesday. Her two-run homer against Shippensburg on Friday in the first game gave Millersville the lead in a game they would go on to win 6-3 and she followed that up with a 3-for-4 performance in the second game. She had a grand slam against West Chester on Saturday in the first game in what turned out to be an extra-inning loss for the Marauders but she came back to double and scored two runs in the second game as Millersville won 9-6 to prevent West Chester from winning the Eastern Division outright.
PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Alicia Hughes, Millersville

Hughes went 2-0 with a 0.91 ERA last week, notching a complete game win in one game and combining on a no-hitter in the other. She struck out nine and walked just one in 15.1 innings of work and gave up nine runs but just two were earned. She started the week by throwing four inning and striking out five in combining with Lisa Rich on a five-inning no-hitter against Lincoln. She gave up three unearned runs and left with a no-decision in Friday’s loss to Shippensburg in the second game before picking up the win against West Chester in the Saturday’s second game, allowing two earned runs and seven hits while striking out three and walking none.
PSAC Central Player of the Week
Megan McCormick, IUP

McCormick earns her third PSAC Central Player of the Week award of the season after hitting .500 (7-for-14) with two doubles, a home run and six RBI in a 3-1 week for IUP last week. She also scored five runs and had an .857 slugging percentage for the week. In a doubleheader split with Lock Haven, she went 3-for-7 with an RBI. McCormick drove in five runs and went 4-for-7 in IUP’s doubleheader sweep of Mansfield.
PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week

Holloway went 3-1 with a 0.88 ERA last week for the Crimson Hawks, who swept Mansfield in a doubleheader and split with Lock Haven. She had two complete game shutouts, struck out 43 in 24.0 innings of work and gave up just five runs, three earned. In her efforts last week, she broke the IUP single-season record for strikeouts with 226, breaking her old record of 208 set in 2008. She also broke the IUP career record for strikeouts. Against Mansfield in the first game, she allowed just two hits in five inning of work while striking out 12. In the second game, she whiffed 14 while giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits in six innings. She struck out eight in the first game against Lock Haven, which broke the career record, but came up short in a 2-1 loss despite giving up just one earned run. She rebounded to blank the Lady Eagles in the second game by allowing just four hits while striking out nine.
PSAC West Player of the Week

Johnson and California played just two games last week but she made them count for the Vulcans as she went 4-for-7 (.571) with two home runs and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Mercyhurst last Tuesday, which clinched the outright PSAC West title for the Vulcans. Johnson scored two runs and had a 1.427 slugging percentage and a .625 on-base percentage in the twinbill. She went 2-for-4 in the first game with a pair of home runs and three RBI and then went 2-for-3 with a walk in the nightcap.

Dragon earns her second PSAC West Pitcher of the Week honor of the season after throwing two complete game shutouts to help the Golden Knights to a 3-1 record last week. She compiled a 1.00 ERA in 14.0 innings of work, striking out 22 and walking just one while giving up just two runs and 11 hits and going 2-1. Dragon posted back-to-back complete game shutouts against Clarion and Slippery Rock before falling to The Rock in the second game of that doubleheader. She had a string of three straight shutouts before falling to Rock in the second game. Against Clarion, she tossed a three-hitter, struck out nine and walked none in a 10-0 win. Against The Rock, she threw a six-hitter, striking out nine and walking one in a 1-0 win.
