Four PSAC teams were selected to the 2010 NCAA Division II softball tournament, whose field was announced this morning. PSAC champion Bloomsburg and PSAC runner-up California will serve as the two hosts in the regionals this weekend, May 14-16, and they will be joined by Kutztown and IUP as the four teams representing the PSAC.

Under the current format of the NCAA softball tournament, which made its debut last year, each region is composed of eight teams for a total of 64, and each of those eight teams in the eight regions are separated into two sub-regionals. The winners of each regional then advance onto the super regionals, which will be a best-of-three game series the following weekend, held May 21-22. The winners of the super regionals advance onto Women's College World Series, which will be held this year May 27-31 at the Heritage Park Softball Complex in St. Joseph, Mo.

Bloomsburg is the top seed in its regional and will host No. 2 West Virginia Wesleyan, No. 3 IUP and No. 4 Chowan. California is the top seed in the other regional and the Vulcans will host No. 2 Kutztown, No. 3 Shepherd and No. 4 Fairmont State.
