Grad student Clare McSweeney took part in two record-setting performances over the weekend at the 25th-annual Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State. McSweeney eclipsed her own school record in the 800-meter run and ran the second leg of the school record setting 4x400 meter relay team. In the 800 meters, McSweeney crossed the finish line in 2:10.13 to finish fifth overall in a field that included runners from Illinois, Kent State, Virginia Tech and the host Buckeyes. She eclipsed her previous school-best time by only one-tenth of second and now holds the sixth-fastest time in the country this season. The 4x400 relay team broke the school record that was set last week after finishing eighth overall in 3:51.10, which topped the relay teams from several NCAA Division I programs.
