Lock Haven, Pa. - Clarion's Hannah Heeter, the six-time reigning PSAC West Freshman of the Week, earns her first Athlete of the Week honor after averaging over 20 points and 20 rebounds over two games, making it the seventh straight week that she has earned a weekly PSAC honor. Kutztown's Steph Zewe is a fellow first-time weekly honoree as she earns the East Athlete of the Week award.
East Stroudsburg's Jessica Martin earns her seventh East Freshman of the Week honor after another solid performance on the glass and on defense for the Warriors, while Lock Haven's Lysa Mealing earns her first West Freshman of the Week honor after posting a double-double average in her two games.
PSAC East Athlete of the Week
Steph Zewe, Kutztown
Junior, Forward
Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley
Zewe averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and 13.5 rebounds while shooting an impressive 66.7 percent from the floor (10-for-15) to help Kutztown go 1-1 last week. She also made her only three-point attempt and 8-of-10 free throws. In last Wednesday's 72-59 win over Cheyney, Zewe posted her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. She then recorded her seventh double-double of the season in Saturday's loss to Bloomsburg as she led her team with 16 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Jessica Martin, East Stroudsburg
Freshman, Forward
Brownstown, Pa./Conestoga Valley
Martin earns the East Freshman of the Week accolade for the third straight week after averaging 8.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocks as East Stroudsburg went 1-1. In the Warriors' 65-68 upset win over Millersville last Wednesday, Martin led the way with 10 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and five blocks for her fourth double-double of the season. She then recorded six points, nine rebounds and three blocks in a loss to West Chester on Saturday. Over the last week, Martin set the East Stroudsburg record for rebounds by a freshman with 183 and has recorded at least nine rebounds in five of her last six games. With 69 blocks this season, which leads the PSAC, Martin is just three shy of the PSAC record for most blocks by a freshman, which is 72 by Shippensburg's Ashley Totedo in 1995-96.
PSAC West Athlete of the Week
Hannah Heeter, Clarion

Heeter, who has been named the PSAC West Freshman of the Week in each of the last six consecutive weeks, earns her first West Athlete of the Week honor of her career after averaging 24.0 points and 20.5 rebounds along with 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals in Clarion's last two games. She put up her nearly-unheard of 20-20 averages while shooting an impressive 22-of-35 from the field (62.9 percent). She also contributed 1.5 blocks per contest and made 4-of-6 free throws. Heeter started off her week by scoring 28 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in a 78-62 win over Lock Haven last Wednesday. She then scored 20 points and hauled in 22 boards in a 72-60 loss to No. 2 and undefeated Edinboro on Saturday. Clarion had lost by 36 points to the Fighting Scots in the teams' first meeting earlier in the year. Heeter has now posted two 20-point, 20-rebound contests this year and is now one of only three players in Clarion history to have two 20-20 games in their entire career and just the second to notch a pair of 20-20 games in a single season. She also tied Heather Cigich's school record for most 15-rebound games in a season with her seventh. Heeter has now recorded 11 double-doubles in her last 14 games.
PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Lysa Mealing, Lock Haven

Altoona, Pa./Altoona
Mealing earns her first West Freshman of the Week honor of the season after averaging a double-double in two games for the Lady Eagles with 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest. Mealing also contributed 1.5 assists per game and committed just two turnovers in 54 minutes of playing time. In a 78-62 loss to Clarion on Wednesday, Mealing scored 11 points and had seven rebounds. She then recorded her second career double-double in the first half alone in Saturday's 77-67 loss to Gannon as she scored 11 points and grabbed 13 boards in the first half. She finished the game with 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Team Notes
Bloomsburg
The Huskies, defending PSAC East champions, clinched a tie for their second straight title with a win over Kutztown ... Bloomsburg was ranked fifth in this week's first NCAA regional poll ... The Huskies are riding a season-high seven game winning streak heading into the final two regular season games of the year ... Bloomsburg swept its season series with Mansfield for the third straight year and overall the Huskies have won seven straight over the Mounties.
California
The Vulcans clinched a berth in the PSAC Tournament last week with road divisional wins over Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst … Cal U has appeared in the conference tournament for 12-straight years, advancing to the PSAC Championship in 11-consecutvie seasons … The Vulcans have won the last 21 meetings against The Rock dating back to 2002 … Cal U closes the regular seasons with games against Clarion and No. 2 Edinboro after both teams won the first meeting against the Vulcans this season … Senior F Amy Johns has posted 20-point games in six of the last seven games, including three-straight … Freshman F Selena Adamshick tied her career high with 12 points off the bench at Mercyhurst on Saturday
Cheyney
Playing the final game of her career in Cope Hall, Linda Henderson recorded a career high 14 for the Lady Wolves who were playing without their top two scorers against Shippensburg … Henderson along with fellow seniors Nadirah Brown and Kyra McGriff were honored in a pre-game ceremony saluting the seniors on the squad … Alexis Peterson equaled her career high with 10 points against the Red Raiders … It was the first time in 10 games that the Lady Wolves out-rebounded their opponents … The 53 points surrendered were a season low … Cheyney only surrendered 13 field goals, a season low … The Lady Wolves also defense only allowed Shippensburg to shoot 32%, also a season low.
Clarion
Fr. F Hannah Heeter continued to make a case as the best player in the PSAC West averaging a 20-20 (24 ppg, 20.5 rpg) during the week while recording her second 20-20 game of the season with 20 points, 22 rebounds vs. Edinboro Saturday after just missing vs. Lock Haven Wed. (28 points, 19 rebounds) … She is one of three Clarion players to have two 20-20 games in a career and one of just two to do it in one season ... Heeter now has seven 15-rebound games tying the single-season record for 15-rebound contests set by Heather Cigich, and her 258 rebounds are the second most ever by a Clarion freshman … Heeter has already clinched a double-double for the season, the first Clarion player to average a double-double since Shay Godwin and Cigich in 2004 and the first freshman to do so since Cheryl Bansek in 1986 ... So. G Emma Fickel became the fourth player in school history with at least two seasons of 60 or more three-pointers during the week.
East Stroudsburg
ESU split two games this week to earn its 10th win of the season for the first time since 2008-09 ... Warriors upset Millersville, 65-58, on Wednesday behind Fr. F Jessica Martin (10 points, 13 rebounds, 5 blocks), Jr. F Fayola Moise (11 points, 9 rebounds) and Sr. G Cyara Woodridge (11 points) ... ESU fell 78-54 at West Chester on Saturday ... Martin set ESU's freshman record for rebounds (183), passing Hall of Famer Lori Pio (178, 1992-93) ... She is 3 blocks from tying the PSAC record for a freshman (72, Ashley Totedo, Shippensburg, 1995-96) ... Martin has 3+ blocks in 8 straight games, and 5 games with 5 blocks this season ... She was 12th in DII and 2nd among freshmen last week and is averaging 3.0 per game ... Fr. G Ryann Fiascki led the PSAC in FT% (88.9, 72-81) last week but was 0-2 at West Chester ... Martin (7.6) and Moise (7.5) are both in the top 10 in the PSAC in rebounding ... Warriors are at Bloomsburg Wednesday and host Cheyney Saturday to finish the season.
Edinboro
The second-ranked Fighting Scots (24-0, 20-0 PSAC) were able to keep their record unblemished by getting past No. 21 Indiana (Pa.) and Clarion … Edinboro defeated IUP, 67-48, behind a career-high 27 points and six rebounds from junior guard Kiara Brown. Senior forward Renee’ Brown added 17 points, four boards and four steals while junior center Samantha Blazetic swatted six of a school-record 15 blocks … The Scots held off Clarion, 72-60, on Saturday. Renee’ Brown paced Edinboro with 22 points and seven steals … Kiara Brown added 20 points … Senior guard Raven Metz had 11 of Edinboro’s 27 steals during the game … Edinboro clinched a first-round home PSAC playoff game with the top seed in the PSAC West … The Fighting Scots wrap up their regular season schedule by traveling to local rival Mercyhurst on Wednesday before hosting California (Pa.) on Saturday.
Gannon
Gannon closed out the final homestand of the year with a pair of wins … The Lady Knights defeated Mercyhurst 67-47 on Wednesday before closing the regular season at the 'Mill with a 77-67 win … Saturday's game served as both senior day and the fifth-annual Pink Zone game as Gannon played in front of 1,800 fans … Mollie Sebald set a new career high in scoring against Mercyhurst with 16 points. She also grabbed eight rebounds in the contest … Caitlyn Lowe made the most of her final week at the 'Mill, with a 10-of-22 shooting performance from three-point range. The senior drained an impressive seven three-pointers against Lock Haven, one shy of her career high set against Alaska-Fairbanks in 2009-10 … Gannon closes out the regular season with road games at Slippery Rock and Indiana (Pa.) this week … The Lady Knights can clinch the second seed and a home PSAC Tournament quarterfinal game with a win on Wednesday.
IUP
The 21st-ranked Crimson Hawks posted their third straight 1-1 week as they lost to No. 2 Edinboro on Wednesday before rebounding to beat rival Slippery Rock on Saturday night … IUP played strong defensively against the Fighting Scots, forcing 18 turnovers, but Edinboro blocked 15 shots and recorded 11 steals in a 67-48 victory … Fr. G Leslie Stapleton and Jr. F Sarah Pastorek both scored in double-figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively … The Crimson Hawks came back in a big way on Saturday, grabbing a 17-point halftime lead on their way to a 70-45 blowout win … IUP forced 25 turnovers and outrebounded The Rock 45-23 as 10 different players scored … Pastorek had another double-figure outing, her 12th in a row, scoring 12 points while Fr. G Amy Fairman added 10 points and seven rebounds … IUP holds a two-game lead over rival Cal for the third seed in the conference tournament with a 15-5 PSAC mark.
Kutztown
Kutztown snapped a six-game losing streak after defeating Cheyney 72-59 … KU's defense has been its focal point this season and is led by junior Steph Zewe who recorded back-to-back double doubles … She has recorded seven double-doubles this season … Against Cheyney and Bloomsburg, she finished with game-high rebounds and helped hold the PSAC East Division leader to just 23 points in the first half.
Lock Haven
Lock Haven lost both of its games last week on the road, bringing their record to 8-15, 7-13 in the PSAC. The Lady Eagles are now on their third three-game losing streak of the season … Seniors Peaches Nesmith and Sharay Hall lead LHU in scoring, averaging 13.6 and 12.0 points per game, respectively … A major bright spot for the Lady Eagles has been freshman forward Lysa Mealing … Mealing, who recorded a double-double in the first half Saturday against No. 19 Gannon, is averaging 11.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game over her last three games … The Lady Eagles wrap-up their season with two home games this week … They host Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday and Mercyhurst Saturday.
Mansfield
The Mountaineers went 0-2 over the week dropping a thrilling contest to division-leading Bloomsburg Wednesday night at Decker before falling on the road to Millersville on Saturday … Mansfield led by as many as 14 points over the Huskies before a 12-0 run primed Bloomsburg for a come from behind 62-59 victory … A deflated Mountaineer squad struggled on the road against the Marauders Saturday dropping a 66-45 decision … With nine victories, Mansfield has earned the most wins since the 2006-07 season, but has been eliminated from PSAC playoff contention with a conference record of 6-14 … Senior Mallory Moore ranks 18th in the nation and second in the conference in scoring with 18.9 points per game … The Mountaineers close out the season by traveling to Kutztown Wednesday before hosting West Chester on senior day at Decker on Saturday.
Mercyhurst
The Lakers dropped two games last week, falling out of contention for the PSAC Tournament ... ‘Hurst fell, 67-47, at #19 Gannon on February 15 ... Mercyhurst lost, 65-60, to California (Pa.) on February 18 ... Dana Banda scored 19 points in the defeat at Gannon, while Nikki Frederickson totaled 14 points and nine boards against California ... At 11-13 overall and 9-11 in the PSAC Western Division, the Lakers have two games left-#2 Edinboro at home on February 22 and at Lock Haven on February 25.
Millersville
The Millersville women’s basketball team entered the week already clinched to the PSAC Tournament for the 16th-straight year under head coach Mary Fleig, her 18th appearance in 22 seasons … The Marauders dropped its first game of the week at ESU to end their 10-game winning streak, four at Koehler Fieldhouse, against the Warriors … Millersville led at the break, but fell behind in the second for a 65-58 defeat … On Saturday, the Marauders responded like they have all season with a 66-45 convincing win over Mansfield on senior day … Millersville is now 8-0 (6-0 PSAC) after a loss this season … The Marauders have now won 11 straight against the Mountaineers and are 31-0 all-time against Mansfield at Pucillo Gymnasium.
Shippensburg
Shippensburg clinched its first playoff berth since the 2007-08 season Saturday with a win at Cheyney ... SU will be the No. 4 seed in the PSAC Eastern Division and will travel to its opening-round opponent ... It will be the first PSAC tourney with SU in the PSAC East ... Senior Monae Baker continued to impress, averaging a double-double for the week with 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two games, shooting 72.2% from the field (13-18) ... Sarah Strybuc has maintained the scoring pace, adding 17 against West Chester ... Caitlin Bamberger posted 10+ points for the 12th time this season with 13 against West Chester.
Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock's current losing streak was pushed to 10 games with losses last week against California and Indiana ... The Rock has struggled to get out of the gates and has been forced to try to recover from double-digit halftime deficits in their last three games and five of the last six … SRU has not held a lead for the last 252:47 of game time with the last lead coming with 12:47 to play against IUP Jan. 28.
West Chester
West Chester picked up a pair of wins last week to remain in second place - one game back of Bloomsburg, heading into the final week of the regular season ... Saturday was Senior Day for the Golden Rams as well as Play4Kay ... It was WCU's largest home attendance of the year with 1,198 fans ... WCU's senior class won their 77th game in four years ... They are three wins shy of becoming the first class to win 80 games since the Class of 2004 ... Head coach Deirdre Kane is on the verge of her seventh 20-win season, second in a row and third in the last four years.
