Millersville’s Aurielle Mosley captained the Marauders to a 1-1 week with back-to-back double-doubles, her 39th and 40th of her career. In a 68-39 win against Slippery Rock Friday, the senior went for 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting, pulled down a game-high 10 boards and blocked two shots. The York native put-up even better numbers against Edinboro on Saturday, as she contributed 16 points, another game-high 12 rebounds, and a pair of blocks.

Although the Lady Wolves weren’t able to get into the win column this week, rookie Kyra Hines-Allen was the only Cheyney player to net double figures in back-to-back contests. She dropped 21 points at Lock Haven, and returned to the court at Clarion with 14 points. Hines-Allen also added 12 rebounds across both contests, including eight off the offensive glass. She is now netting an average 8.4 points per game to lead her team with a total 76 points in her freshman campaign.

Edinboro’s Kiara Brown dominated the court in PSAC crossover action, as she scored a career-high 31 points with a trio of assists and another three steals in a 69-64 win at Millersville. Brown was responsible for 15 of her team's 19 points during a 19-10 break late in second half, as Edinboro rallied from a 39-38 deficit that resulted from an 18-6 sprint by Millersville to erase an 11-point Edinboro lead at halftime. Against Shippensburg, Brown tallied a game-high 17 points combined with five rebounds, four assists and two steals in the 63-53 win on Friday night.

Aignee Freeland, Edinboro

The Fighting Scots’ Aignee Freeland saw 77 minutes of action in Edinboro’s PSAC crossover road victories at Shippensburg (63-53) and Millersville (69-64). Freeland scored eight points and brought down nine rebounds with a career-high four blocks at Millersville. At Shippensburg Freeland netted six points with 12 rebounds, including seven on defense, and three blocks.
Team Notes
Bloomsburg
The 22nd-ranked Huskies concluded a season-long, six-game road trip with a split of their crossover games against eight-ranked Gannon (72-68 L) and Mercyhurst (78-55 W). Bloomsburg is second in the PSAC in scoring (75.1) and is on pace to break the single-season school record set last season. It is also the best free throw shooting team in the PSAC at 77.1 percent, and assists with 17.73 per game. Sr. guard
Dana Wieller is fifth in the PSAC in scoring at 14.7, fifth in free throw shooting (85.7) and is fourth in three-pointers made (26).
Lauren Ellis is ninth in rebounding (7.8) and is coming off her third double-double of the season. She is averaging 12 ppg.
Kayla Oxenrider is third on the team in scoring at 11.4 per clip and is second in the PSAC in free throw percentage (88.2).
California
The Vulcans moved into a tie for third place in the PSAC West standings over the weekend with a pair of road victories in league crossover play. Cal U is now 5-0 on the road this season with four wins in PSAC Crossover action. Junior guard
Ryah Gadson has averaged 12.4 points over the last five games after posting 4.0 points through the first six games this year. Gadson made 12 free-throws at Kutztown, marking the most free-throws in a game by a Cal U player since February 2011.Senior
Stephanie Michael made a season-high four three-pointers at East Stroudsburg and now ranks third in the PSAC with 27 treys this season. The Vulcans were limited to a season-low 19 points in the first half at East Stroudsburg before more than doubling the total with 46 points in the second half
Cheyney
The Lady Wolves played there most competitive game of the season, dropping a four point decision to Clarion. Freshman
Kyra Hines-Allen netted double figures in back to back contests for the first time. She dropped 21 at Lock haven and the next night came back to score 14. Cheyney is still searching for their first victory. Cheyney return home for contests this week against Gannon and Mercyhurst. It will be the first time the Lady Wolves play in Cope Hall since December 9.
Clarion
Sophomore forward
Hannah Heeter continues to put up outstanding rebounding numbers and had two more games of at least 15 boards over the weekend tying her for 2nd in school history with 11 such games (Shay Godwin also had 11). In her last four games, she is averaging 15.5 rpg and hasn't had fewer than 14 boards in any of those games. Heeter also had her 17th career double-double (in 32 career games) when she had 17 points, 16 rebounds vs. Cheyney Saturday. The 17 double-doubles are the 9th most in a career in school history. Jr.
Raven Jones had a season-high 18 points in a loss to West Chester Friday.
East Stroudsburg
ESU (4-7, 3-4) saw its three-game PSAC winning streak come to an end with a pair of losses to PSAC West contenders IUP (67-59) and California (65-50) at Koehler Fieldhouse. Warriors three-game streak, with wins over Cheyney, Lock Haven and Clarion, was just the third in the last six seasons. ESU led Cal at halftime, 20-19, before Vulcans 13-0 run to start 2nd half. So. Jessica Martin, last year’s PSAC East Freshman of the Year, had 16 points and 8 rebounds vs. IUP, and 11 points and 6 rebounds vs. Cal. She has scored in double figures in 4 straight games, tied for the best stretch of her career. She ranks 15th in PSAC in scoring (11.9), 5th in rebounding (8.4) and t-4th in blocks (1.6). Warriors rank 4th in PSAC in field goal percentage defense (36.5) but 14th in field goal percentage offense (35.9). ESU is at Slippery Rock and Edinboro to finish PSAC crossover play next weekend.
Edinboro
The Edinboro women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to six with crossover victories at Shippensburg (63-53) and Millersville (69-64) this past weekend. The wins improved the Fighting Scots to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in PSAC play. Senior guard
Kiara Brown produced a tremendous weekend, pouring in 17 points at Shippensburg before keying the Fighting Scots win at Millersville with a career-high 31 points. The output pushed Brown into the conference lead in scoring at 17.1 points per game for the season, passing teammate
Samantha Blazetic (16.5 ppg). Blazetic put up her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the year by averaging 13 points and 11.5 rebounds over the weekend. The Fighting Scots return home to host Kutztown and East Stroudsburg on Jan. 11-12 in the final crossover weekend of the season.
Gannon
Gannon has now won 12 consecutive games after sweeping a pair of PSAC crossover home games last weekend against 22nd-ranked Bloomsburg (72-68) and Mansfield (80-49). It represents the program’s longest winning streak since the 2009-10 NCAA Division II Final Four team rattled off 37 straight wins to begin the season. Gannon is 4-1 this season against top-25 teams and 2-0 against teams which were among others receiving votes at the time of competition. Sophomore
Mollie Sebald scored a career-high 21 points against Bloomsburg, hitting 4-of-6 three-pointers and all three free throw attempts. Gannon was able to block two of Bloomsburg’s final three shots during its four-point victory. The Lady Knights hit 11 three-pointers against Mansfield, reaching double digits for the sixth time this season and fourth time in the last five games. 11 Lady Knights scored against Mansfield to produce a 47-16 edge in bench points.
IUP
The Crimson Hawks split their PSAC crossover games this past weekend against East Stroudsburg and Kutztown, moving to 10-3 overall on the season. Their 5-2 mark in conference play puts them in a tie with California for third place. Sr. F
Sarah Pastorek moved into 16th place in IUP history in scoring with 1,151 points, scoring a season-high 25 in a 67-49 win at ESU on Friday night. It was So. G
Marita Mathe who starred on Saturday, scoring a career-high 25 points to go along with five rebounds and five steals in a 68-62 loss at Kutztown. IUP is currently ranked 12th in the USA TODAY Sports Top 25, and have gone 4-2 since the last poll was released on Dec. 18. The Crimson Hawks return home this weekend for a pair of games, hosting Shippensburg on Friday and Millersville on Saturday.
Kutztown
Kutztown split a pair of crossovers, including a 68-62 upset of No. 12 Indiana (Pa.).
Natalya Lee led Kutztown with 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting against the Crimson Hawks. She also went 2-of-4 from three-point range and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line. All eight players who dressed for the game scored.
Alyssa Bonenberger and
Avery Hodgson each scored 10 points.
Advia Campbell averaged a double-double for the week with 11.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. Against California (Pa.), she had 16 points and matched a career-high with 11 rebounds. In the win over IUP, she had 10 rebounds and a career-best five steals.
Ashley Wood had a solid all-around effort against the Vulcans with 16 points, seven boards and four assists
. Aly York returned from injury in that game and added 11 points off the bench. KU shot 46-of-58 from the foul line in for the week (79 percent), including a 20-of-24 effort against IUP. The Golden Bears were strong on the glass, as well, outrebounding both Cal and the Crimson Hawks.
Lock Haven
The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team is currently 4-7 overall, 1-6 in the PSAC. LHU downed Cheyney on Friday, 74-53, tallying its first conference win of the season. Four Lady Eagles scored in double-figures in the game. LHU dropped a hard fought matchup with West Chester on Saturday, 75-64.
Kelsey Ryan led LHU with 16 points and 12 rebounds in the game. It was her second double-double of the season. Ryan currently leads LHU in scoring at 11.7 points per game.
Emily Daugherty and
Marrysa Moyer also average double-figure scoring at 11.1 and 10.6 points, respectively. The Lady Eagles are back in action this weekend on the road when they travel to local rivals Bloomsburg (Friday, January 11) and Mansfield (Saturday, January 12).
Mansfield
The Mountaineers dropped a pair of PSAC crossover contests this past weekend at Mercyhurst and No. 8 Gannon. Mansfield struggled offensively, shooting just 34.4% from the field over the two-game span. Senior
Kayla Espigh led four players in double-figure scoring in the 75-60 loss to Mercyhurst. Espigh was four-of-seven from 3-point in the game. Freshman
Katie Fitzpatrick scored a team-high 12 points in an 80-49 setback to No. 8 Gannon. The Mounties are back in action when they host Clarion and Lock Haven at Decker Gymnasium this Friday and Saturday.
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst went 1-1 in its PSAC crossovers last weekend, beating Mansfield, 75-60, and then falling to #22 Bloomsburg, 78-55, the next day...in the win over the Mountaineers, redshirt
freshman Kelley McBroom came off the bench to score 12 points, including the first two three-pointers of her career.
Dana Banda recorded 10 points, eight assists (tying a career high), five rebounds, and three steals. The Laker defense held Mansfield to 5-24 field goal shooting in the first half. Against Bloom, Banda led the way with 19 points. Mercyhurst trailed early before making a 12-0 run midway through the first half to get within five points at halftime. The Lakers head to West Chester and Cheyney January 11-12 for their final set of crossover contests.
Millersville
Millersville claimed a 1-1 week, with a 68-39 win over Slippery Rock Friday night before falling to Edinboro Saturday evening, 69-64. Against The Rock, senior forward/center
Aurielle Mosley posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while impact freshman
Celeste Robinson and
Senada Mehmedovic tied for the team lead with 15 points apiece. Against Edinboro the next night, senior point guard
Mashira Newman paced the team in scoring with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting and added five steals, four assists and three rebounds. The Marauders, however, could not overcome 31 points from Fighting Scot guard Kiara Brown, falling on their home floor.
Shippensburg
Shippensburg split its latest PSAC crossover games to run its record to 8-3, 4-3. Freshman
Stephanie Knauer posted her seventh double-double of the season in the win over The Rock and ranks second in the PSAC in rebounding and seventh in scoring. Junior
Sarah Strybuc scored 25 points against The Rock and ranks fourth in the PSAC in scoring (14.8 ppg). Strybuc matched her career high in the win with six assists while senior guard Morgan Taylor set a career high with four steals. Strybuc continues to lead the PSAC in free-throw percentage (92.7; 25-of-27). SHIP is third in the league in turnover margin and fourth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock dropped a pair of crossovers to Millersville and Shippensburg to slip to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in league play. The Rock has now lost three games in a row with the last win coming Dec. 19 against Cheyney. Freshman
Erica Aiello was a highlight last week, leading the team in scoring in both games coming off the bench.
West Chester
West Chester swept its two crossover matches last weekend with wins over Clarion and Lock Haven on the road. The Golden Rams have won two in a row and 3 of their last 5. WCU overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to beat Lock Haven on Saturday. The Rams outscored the Eagles by 21 points in the final 20 minutes. Fr., G,

Serifat Junaid blocked a career-best four shots. Four players accounted for 63 of WCU's 75 points in the win over LHU.

Alexandra Lennon blocked three shots against Clarion, upping her career total to 240 and moving her past former ESU star Sue Edwards and into fifth place on the PSAC's all-time chart.
