Football - Week 8
PSAC WEEK EIGHT GAME NOTES
PSAC QUICK HITS
HOME/VISITOR SUCCESS FLIP-FLOP
• In Week 6 five road teams took home victories (WCU, BORO, MIL, BLM, and CAL), while Slippery Rock and Shippensburg were the only schools to win on their home turf. Mercyhurst defeated Gannon on neutral soil at Veterans Stadium in Erie, Pa.
• However, in Week 5 it was the home teams that reigned supreme with all put one home team earning a win. Gannon, Shippensburg, Kutztown, West Chester, Slippery Rock, Bloomsburg, and California were the winning home squads, while Mercyhurst picked up a road win over Seton Hill.
HOW THINGS CHANGE
• At the beginning of the season Bloomsburg, Shippensburg and IUP all held spots on the AFCA and D2Football.com preseason top 25 coaches polls. Seven games later, Bloomsburg is the only team from those three to remain on the polls.
• West Chester joined the poll race after the first week of action and has been creeping up the polls ever since, while Slippery Rock is just joining the mix on the D2Football.com poll after beating IUP two weeks ago. The SRU win over IUP bounced IUP from being in the top 10 to the bottom end of the polls, and a loss to Edinboro a week later dropped IUP from both polls.
