PSAC WEEK NINE GAME NOTES

PSAC QUICK HITS

INITIAL REGIONAL RANKINGS

• Four PSAC teams were given slots on the initial Super Region One rankings. West Chester earned the top spot, Bloomsburg came in at No. 3, Slippery Rock sits in the fifth spot, and California is ranked eighth.

• Outside the PSAC, Shepherd (Mountain East Conf.) is ranked second. Shepherd is currently 7-0 with a season-opening win over Shippensburg. Winston-Salem State (CIAA) has just one loss on the season to UNC Pembroke in the season opener. Virginia State, another CIAA school, is sixth, while Stonehill of the Northeast-10 is ranked seventh. Rounding out the rankings is No. 9 Urbana and No. 10 Concord, both of the Mountain East Conference.

• The NCAA Super Region One rankings are used to determine the six teams from the region that qualify for the NCAA D-II Football Championship tournament. The top two teams in each region receive a bye into the quarterfinals while the No. 3 and 4 seeds host Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. The winners of the first round games then advance to play at No. 1 and 2 seeds in the region on Nov. 30 in the quarterfinals.
