PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

• The “state game” was played between the top two teams in each division from 1960-1987. From 1988-2007 the conference named Divisional Champions, and the “state game” was reinstated in 2008. Since 2008, IUP (‘12), Kutztown (‘11), Mercyhurst (‘10), Shippensburg (‘09), and California (‘08) have each won a PSAC Championship title.

• Out of the 33 state games that have been played in league history, 12 institutions have won at least one title. East Stroudsburg leads the way with seven, while West Chester has earned six. Both Slippery Rock and Clarion have each won four, and IUP has earned three. Shippensburg and California have two apiece, and Kutztown, Mercyhurst, Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Edinboro have earned one each.

• Slippery Rock and Bloomsburg were originally scheduled to face one another in the final weekend of the regular season. It marks the third time in the past six seasons that an originally scheduled crossover also served as the PSAC Championship game.

• During the 20 years when the league named Divisional Champions, Slippery Rock won or shared the Western title four consecutive years (1997-2000), and Bloomsburg won or shared the Eastern Division 10 times.
