East Stroudsburg's junior Whis Grant scored his 1,000th career point and led the Warriors to a pair of wins last week. Grant averaged 26.0 points, with 23 against Mansfield and 29 points at Kutztown. Grant netted six three-pointers during the week, while posting a flawless 12-of-12 performance at the free throw line and tallying six steals. Grant earned his 1,000th point against Mansfield and became the just the third junior in East Stroudsburg history to score 1,000 career points. Grant and Moore mark the first time since January 1998 that East Stroudsburg has earned both Athlete and Freshman of the Week honors in the same week. |

Rasheed Moore

East Stroudsburg's Rasheed Moore helped the Warriors to a pair of wins to open defense of their PSAC East regular season title. He notched 13 points and six rebounds in an 88-65 win versus Mansfield, and 14 points and seven rebounds in an 83-70 win at Kutztown. Moore shot 52.9 percent from the field while averaging 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds. He is the only East Stroudsburg player to score in double figures in all six games of the team's undefeated 6-0 start. |

Jonny Marsh

Bronx, N.Y. / Impact Academy
Edinboro's Jonny Marsh averaged 32.0 points per game last week while helping the Fighting Scots go 1-1 on the road. Marsh notched 34 points, including 21 in first half, in a 88-73 win at Urbana. In the win, he went 5-of-7 from three-point land, while handing-out two assists and registering one steal and two rebounds. In 40 minutes of play at Pitt-Johnstown, Marsh recorded 30 points and turned the ball over just once as the team's point guard. Versus the Mountain Cats, Marsh shot 6-of-9 from behind the arc, while tallying four assists and four rebounds. |

Cornell Yarde II

Leesport, Pa. / Schuykill Valley
Cornell Yarde II averaged 24.0 minutes per game for IUP in his last two games. In a 76-62 win against Pitt-Johnstown, he recorded three assists and one block with five points and two rebounds. In a 68-47 win over Clarion, Yarde scored six points while grabbing four rebounds and handing-out two assists. In his 48 minutes of action during the two contests, Yarde committed just one turnover. |

Bloomsburg
The Huskies stretched their win streak to four games with a pair of PSAC East wins over Millersville (83-77) and at Lock Haven (62-57) to move to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Senior
Dontahe Jordan has scored in double figures in all five games thus far and averages 20.0 points per game. Fellow senior
Lorenzo Christmas became the 27th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points with his 17 points in the Millersville win to move to 1,001 in maroon and gold. Junior transfer
Alssene Saintilus enjoyed his best day with the Huskies this past Saturday, scoring 16 points at Lock Haven. Bloomsburg is off until Dec. 4 when it hosts Cheyney.
California
The Vulcans opened PSAC West play with a pair of losses to Gannon and Slippery Rock, who were picked second and third, respectively, in the league’s preseason poll. Junior G
Tynell Fortune set a career high with 20 points off the bench against The Rock after being held to only four points on Wednesday night. Cal U has already started eight different players this season while three players have started all five games. Junior transfer
Alonzo Murphy finished with 17 points and four blocks on Saturday against Slippery Rock after combining for 14 points and no blocks in the previous two games. The Vulcans shot a combined 29.6 percent (32-for-108) from the field against the Golden Knights and The Rock last week
Cheyney
The Wolves snapped a three game skid to earn their first victory of the young season defeating Shippensburg 78-62.
Deshawn Curtis and
Calvin Brown both recorded double doubles to secure the victory. It was the second double double of the season for each of them. Earlier in the week, the Wolves come out on the short end of a 78-61 decision at West Chester despite placing three players in double figures.
Jerrod Johnson (16 points), Brown (14 points), and
Dequan Newton led the way for the blue and white. The Wolves step out of league play this week with contests at the University of the Sciences (11/26) and Lincoln (11/30).
Clarion
It took just 2 games for Jr.
Darius Stevens to record his 1st double-double at Clarion with 23 points, 10 rebounds at Slippery Rock Wed. at Slippery Rock Despite having his minutes limited because he is coming off a preseason injury,
Stevens is averaging 14.7 ppg, 7.7 rpg and has blocked 3 shots despite avg. 26.6 minutes of action.
Stevens definitely has the linage, as his late dad, Barry, is the 2nd all-time leading scorer at Iowa St. & played a handful of NBA games, and his uncle, Jeff Grayer, is the all-time leading scorer at Iowa St. & played nine years in the NBA (mainly for the Milwaukee Bucks) scoring over 3,000 career points. Ron Righter needs two wins to reach 400 at Clarion.
East Stroudsburg
ESU (6-0, 2-0 PSAC East) is undefeated through 6 games for the 4th time in 70 years, after a pair of double-digit wins to begin defense of its PSAC East regular season title. Warriors beat Mansfield 88-65 on Wednesday, and won at Kutztown 83-70 on Saturday. Jr. G
Whis Grant became the 3rd junior to score 1,000 career points in ESU history with 23 points vs. Mansfield, then had 29 points at Kutztown for 52 (26.0 ppg) for the week. Only Jonathan Roberts and Don Bones, ESU's top two all-time scorers, hit 1,000 career points as a junior. Grant did it in his 64th career game (5th game of the season). Fr. F
Rasheed Moore, last week's PSAC East Freshman of the Week, averaged 13.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in his first 2 divisional games. He is 2nd on team in scoring (12.8 ppg, behind
Grant's 18.0) and leads Warriors in rebounding (5.5 rpg). ESU's point guards, Jr.
Matt Tobin and So.
Malcolm Richardson, are 1-2 in PSAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (ESU is 2nd as team). Warriors lead PSAC with 88.2 ppg (79+ in all 6 games) and 48.9 field goal percentage. ESU's best-ever start is 13-0 in 2009-10 (set school record with 24 wins, made first of 3 NCAA Tournament trips in last 4 years). Warriors are off until Dec. 4, hosting Lock Haven before traveling to Millersville on Dec. 7.
Edinboro
Edinboro went on the road for the first time and rallied from an 11-point deficit for a win at Urbana.
Jonny Marsh led the way, as the junior guard scored 34 points, including making 5 of 7 3-pointers. He became the first Fighting Scots in a number of years with back-to-back 30-point games after dropping in 30 points at Pitt-Johnstown. In that game he made 6 of 9 3-pointers. He played all eighty minutes in the two games and the point guard committed just one turnover. Senior center
Bryan Theriot had back-to-back double-doubles, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds at Urbana, then 26 points and 10 rebounds at UPJ. He was a perfect 10-for-10 at the line He has boosted his career totals to 979 points and 503 rebounds. He will look to join the 1,000-point club against Penn State New Kensington.
Henri Wade-Chatman had a season-high 21 points at Urbana, as
Moore,
Wade-Chatman and
Theriot combined for 71 of Edinboro’s 88 points.
Gannon
Gannon split a pit of games during its first week of regular-season play, defeating California (Pa.) (59-51) in the home opener, before falling at Seton Hill (56-52). Junior
Adam Blazek reached the 20-point plateau for the 10th time in his career with 20 points, five rebounds and four steals against Cal. Gannon improved to 55-15 all-time in season openers, including a 45-7 mark at the Hammermill Center. The Golden Knights are 11-3 all-time against the Vulcans at home and have defeated the Vulcans three consecutive times overall. Gannon out-rebounded both Cal and Seton Hill by a combined 27 rebounds. The contest at Seton Hill was the Golden Knights’ first-ever contest at the McKenna Center. Senior
C.J. Oldham scored a career-high 16 points against the Griffins, narrowly missed his first career double-double with eight rebounds.
IUP
The IUP men’s basketball team is the only unbeaten team in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West, posting a perfect 4-0 (2-0) record. The Crimson Hawks opened up conference play, hosting newcomer Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday. In a career night for Sr. F
Marcel Souberbielle, IUP claimed a 76-62 victory.
Souberbielle scored a career-high 26 points in the win, adding six rebounds, one assist and two steals, playing in all but one minute of the game. Continuing his dominance this season, Sr. G
Mathis Keita tallied 24 points in the game, adding seven boards and four assists. The team traveled to Clarion Saturday night and increased their win-streak, defeating the Golden Eagles 68-47. It was another career night, as Jr. G
Devante Chance matched his career-high point total, tallying 18 and adding five rebounds, one assist and one steal. With the assist, the point guard has now played in 40 consecutive games in which he has recorded at least one helper. Four Crimson Hawks finished the game with double-digit scoring numbers. IUP is heading into a week of rest and will pick up on Saturday, as they welcome Shaw and the University of the Sciences in the annual Indiana Regional Medical Center Classic.
Kutztown
The Golden Bears (1-2, 0-1) dropped back-to-back games last week on their home floor. They have four players averaging double figures in scoring through three games. So. F
Tracy Peal and fr. F
Josh Johnson are each averaging 13.7 points per clip, as Johnson is the only Golden Bear to score double figures in each of its first three games. He also averages a team-leading eight rebounds.
Tyler Brooks pours in 11.7 points and five rebounds per clip, and also has tallied eight assists and a team-leading six blocks. So. G
Ryan Connolly is the team's top three-point shooter and averages 11.3 points per game. KU is shooting 41.3 percent from the field, but needing to improve at the free throw line at 64.5 percent.
Lock Haven
The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team opened its first ever season in the PSAC Eastern Division by splitting two games with Shippensburg and Bloomsburg. The Bald Eagles downed Shippensburg on Wednesday, 78-61, but fell to Bloomsburg at home Saturday, 62-57. LHU is now 2-2 overall on the season. Junior
Wali Hepburn leads LHU in scoring at 19.5 points per game. Senior
Kasheef Festus is averaging 12.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Mansfield
The Mountaineers had a tough draw to open the PSAC East season facing the top two teams in the Coaches Preseason poll.
Joe Bell scored 51 points (25.5 ppg) during the week to become the 25th player in school history to reach the 1,000 point milestone.
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst won its Western Division opener on November 20, beating Seton Hill, 79-74, at the MAC.
Jean Onana scored a career-high 29 points and
Anthony Lytle had 17 points in the first half. The game featured 77 free throws between the two teams. On November 23, the Lakers lost, 69-63, at Daemen.
Andy Hoying led the team with 13 points, while
Onana added 11. Jonathan
Ouegnin recorded eight points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in the loss. Mercyhurst stands at 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the PSAC. It next plays at Urbana in a non-conference game on November 30.
Millersville
Xavier Mumford blocked seven more shots and pulled down 25 rebounds in Millersville's two losses last week.
Mumford has now blocked at least three shots in each of the first four games and has pulled down double-digit rebounds in all four games to start the season. Impressively, almost half (23-of-52) have come on the offensive glass. He has the most rebounds by a Marauder through the first four games since John Fox in 1984-85. He is one of only two players in the PSAC averaging double-figure rebounds and his 5.8 offensive boards per game are best in the league. His 14 blocks lead the league and his 3.5 per game rank second. Sophomore
Kyle Richardson scored 20 against Bloomsburg, giving him two 20-point games in four games. His career high entering this season was six points and he totaled just 27 points in all of 2012-13.
Pitt-Johnstown
Vescovi Collected a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 76-62 loss at IUP on Wednesday.
Seton Hill
The Griffin men began PSAC play with a 1-1 week. SHU dropped a 79-74 decision at Mercyhurst before earning their first ever PSAC West victory in school history with a 56-52 win over Gannon on Saturday. SHU is now 3-1 on the season.
Malachi Leonarrd and
Max Kenyi led the Griffin offense. Kenyi averaged 19.5 points per game and was 25-30 from the free throw line during the week. Leonard averaged 18.5 points and 7 rebounds per game. The Griffins will take a break from PSAC play this week when they hit the road for games at Ashland on Tuesday and Ohio Dominican on Saturday.
Shippensburg
SHIP dropped decisions to Lock Haven and Cheyney and fell to 0-4, 0-2. Sophomore guard
Joe Lococo and freshman guard
Abe Massaley are averaging 15.0+ points per game. SU is one of seven teams in the league holding to opponents to under 40.0 percent shooting. Do not expect to see three-pointers when you play SHIP. Opponents are shooting a league-worst 25.3 percent (19-of-75) against the Raiders while SU is shooting 28.8 percent (21-of-73).
Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock went 3-0 this week with wins over Clarion (79-65), California (74-55), and Ohio University Eastern (113-72).
West Chester
West Chester downed Cheyney 78-61 and defeated Mansfield 103-92.
