Women's Basketball: Co-East Athlete of the Week
Advia Campbell
Kutztown (Jr. / F)
Mount Laurel, N.J. / Lenape

Junior Advia Campbell became the first Golden Bear to record a triple-double in program history, including a school record 10 blocks. Campbell picked-up 11 points, 15 rebounds to tie her career-high, and 10 blocks against West Chester to make-up her triple-double, while also adding seven steals. In a 69-64 win against Mansfield, she knocked down 14 points in the win, while pocketing a seven steals, two shy of the individual school record.

Dallas Ely
West Chester (So. / G)
Montrose, Pa. / Montrose

West Chester's Dallas Ely scored 56 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, dished out eight assists, and collected five steals in two road victories. Ely shot 10-of-18 from the field with a pair of three's for 25 points in an 83-81 victory against Kutztown. Ely then poured-in a career-high 31 points and gathered 10 rebounds in the a 91-83 win over Millersville. The sophomore averaged 28 points and four assists last week while shooting 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Jess Harvey
Kutztown (Fr. / G)
Barnegat, N.J. / Rumson Fair-Haven

Kutztown's Jess Harvey scored a season-high 19 points in a road victory against Mansfield. Harvey shot 8-of-15 from the field with two assists and two steals in the victory. Harvey then scored 13 points, dished out six assists, collected four rebounds, and two steals while playing 37 minutes against West Chester.

Slippery Rock (Jr. / F)

Slippery Rock's D'Asia Chambers scored 30 points in both games last week as Slippery Rock nearly upset No. 2 Gannon and battled Pitt-Johnstown into double overtime. She averaged 30 points, 8.5 rebounds and four steals in the two games and shot 54.2% from the floor. Her 30 points against Gannon marked a career-high, as no other athlete has scored more than 22 points against Gannon so far this season. Against Pitt-Johnstown she posted seven steals, three assists, and nine rebounds to accompany her 30 points. 
Women's Basketball: West Freshman of the Week
Kelly Johnson
Clarion (Fr. / G)
Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon

Kelly Johnson's 30-point performance against Pitt-Johnstown was just the fourth 30-point game by a freshman in Clarion history. Johnson shot 70.6% from the field, dished-out three assists, and collected six steals while committing just one turnover.

 
 
TEAM NOTES

Bloomsburg
The Bloomsburg women's basketball team (5-2, 2-2 PSAC East) split its PSAC East competitions this past week, defeating Cheyney at home (78-35) before dropping a 92-83 decision at Shippensburg. Eleven players scored in the Cheyney win led by senior guard Catherine Noack who hit all eight shots she attempted from the field. Noack then set a career-high with 26 points at Shippensburg. Junior guard Jocelyn Ford also had a career-high 16 points. The Huskies return to action on Dec. 17 at Edinboro.

California
Cal U took a split in PSAC West play last week, winning at Mercyhurst and losing to Edinboro. Junior transfer Kaitlynn Fratz averaged a team-best 20.5 points per game last week while coming off the bench in both games. Fratz, who averaged 17.7 points the last two years at Pitt-Johnstown, was limited to a combined eight points in the team’s opening five games. She scored 25 points in the loss to Edinboro on Saturday, marking the highest single-game total since February 2012. Freshman guard Miki Glenn was limited to a combined four points last week and was held scoreless against Edinboro after scoring 36 points in her previous two games. The Vulcans shot over 40 percent for the first time this season on Wednesday, making 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor at Mercyhurst.
 
Cheyney
The Lady Wolves and rookie head coach Kyle Adams earned their first victory of the season with a 69-51 win over Mansfield. The victory equals the number of wins from a year ago. Last year the Lady Wolves defeated Mansfield. Last year’s victory at Mansfield marks the last time that the Wolves won both ends of conference double header.

Clarion
When Kelly Johnson scored 30 points vs. Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday, it marked just the third time in school history a freshman has scored 30 or more points in a game and she is just the third freshman to score 30 or more in a game for the Golden Eagles and the first since Shannon Coakley poured in 32 in a PSAC Playoff game vs. Slippery Rock Feb. 26, 1991. Coakley also had a 30-point game that season, while Jan Pagano scored 31 vs. California in 1977-78. Johnson had a tremendous game with 6 steals, 7 rebounds and 3 assists as well. Sr. Emma Fickel is having a nice bounce-back year scoring in double figures in four of Clarion's five games and she now has 837 career points

East Stroudsburg
ESU is 4-3 (2-2 PSAC East) after a 75-67 win vs. Mansfield, and 75-64 loss at Millersville. Warriors led PSAC East preseason favorite Millersville by as many as 13, and 9 with 7:00 left, before Marauders came back. The win over Mansfield gave ESU a 3-game winning streak, tied for its longest since 5 straight in 2008-09. The Warriors' 4-3 start is still their best since then. So. G Helena Gemmell had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 9 steals in win over Lock Haven. Her 9 steals are at least tied for ESU's school record. She is tied for PSAC lead with 4.0 per game (led PSAC freshmen with 2.7 per game last season). Jr. G Ryann Fiascki scored 16 points, Fr. F Allison Howard had 14 and Jr. F Jessica Martin had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Saturday at Millersville, ESU had 4 double-figure scorers for the first time in almost a year ... Warriors were looking for first win at Puccillo Gymnasium since 2006-07. Howard scored a team-high 13 points, leading ESU in 2 of the last 3 games. Martin leads ESU with 12.1 ppg and 8.0 rpg, followed by Howard with 10.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg. Warriors are 2nd in PSAC in scoring defense (61.1) and field goal defense (36.1), and 5th in turnovers forced (20.7). ESU is second in blocks per game (5.1), and Martin is 1st individually (2.7). She entered the week 5th among active DII players, and 2nd among juniors, with 154 career blocks.

Edinboro
Edinboro picked up a pair of wins last week behind career-high scoring efforts from a pair of players. Hope Mancini had 31 points as the Fighting Scots topped Seton Hill 76-60, and Aignee’ Freeland finished with 31 points in the 81-70 triumph at California(Pa.). Mancini had scored 116 career points in three seasons, but now is leading the team in scoring at 17.4 ppg. She needs 29 points to match her career total. Mancini made 8 of 14 3-pointers against Seton Hill, and scored 19 points in a span of seven minutes to start the second half. Freeland had her third double-double in five games as she made 15 of 22 field goals for her 31 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Edinboro outscored Cal 52-32 in the paint and had 29 second chance points to seven. Katie Collins came off the bench to score 13 points, two off her career-high, in 16 minutes against the Vulcans.

Gannon
After eight games, the No. 2 Gannon Lady Knights remain unbeaten this season. The Lady Knights are off to their best start since the 2009-10 season. Through eight games, the Lady Knights are outscoring their opponents on average by 15.4 points with the offense averaging 81.0 points. The Lady Knights remain second in the USA Today Division II Top 25 Coaches’ poll for the third consecutive week. Dating back to the 2011-12 season, the Lady Knights have been nationally ranked in 31 consecutive polls and have received votes in the national poll at some point during each of the last eight seasons. Taking a break from PSAC action, the Lady Knights will next travel to Le Moyne on Saturday, Dec. 14, for a non-conference matchup at noon. In 24 all-time meetings, the Lady Knights hold an 18-6 record against the Dolphins. The two teams have not met in over 10 years with their last meeting on Dec. 29, 2001 when the Lady Knights defeated the Dolphins, 76-65.

IUP
The 25th-ranked Crimson Hawks split their week, defeating Shepherd on the road before dropping their first game of the season at Seton Hill. IUP is now 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in the PSAC. Jr. G Lindsay Stamp extended her streak of consecutive 20-point games to seven, with 20 in a 78-53 win at Shepherd and 24 in the 63-62 loss at Seton Hill. She also had her first double-double of the season against the Griffins, collecting 10 rebounds. Jr. G Marita Mathe scored a season-high 12 in her only game of the week at Shepherd and Jr. G Amy Fairman averaged 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists with a 50.0 field goal percentage during the week. The Crimson Hawks host a PSAC crossover with Millersville on Dec. 17 and Shippensburg on Dec. 18.
 
Kutztown
The Golden Bears (4-3, 2-1) split their games this past week with a win over Mansfield (69-64), but a loss in a highly contested game against West Chester (83-81). Advia Campbell recorded the program's first-ever triple-double in the game against West Chester. She finished with 11 points, a career-high-tying 15 rebounds, a school-record 10 blocks, and seven steals. She is second in the PSAC in blocks per game (2.4). Alyssa Bonenberger leads the team with 11.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, eighth in the PSAC. Freshman Jenna Altomare led Kutztown with a team-high 23 points against West Chester. Altomare went 6-for-8 from the three-point line, one shy from tying the single-game school record. It also marked the most points by a Kutztown freshman since Tricia McElmoyle scored 26 in her season-opener against Columbia Union in 2005. The Golden Bears travel to Clarion on Tuesday, Dec. 17, and Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday, Dec. 18. Both tipoffs are set for 5:30 p.m.

Lock Haven
Lock Haven will look to earn its second win of the season and snap a five-game losing streak on Wednesday, Dec. 17 when the Lady Eagles travel to Mercyhurst in conference action. LHU’s lone win came in the season-opener vs. Wilmington at home. Junior Marrysa Moyer has led the Lady Eagles and the PSAC in rebounds per game with 11.3. Moyer is fifth in the nation with double doubles with four thus far. Emily Daugherty has had a solid season for The Haven averaging 15.9 points per game and averaging 35.6 minutes of action. Moyer is grabbing 11.3 rebounds per game, which is second in the PSAC and 5th in the nation. The Lady Eagles are averaging 68.4 points per game this season and have a total of 296 rebounds to date.

Mansfield
Mansfield dropped a pair of PSAC East contests to Kutztown and Cheyney this week to fall to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the division. The Mountaineers made a spectacular second-half comeback against Kutztown led by Megan McSwain who scored all of her game-high 21 points in the final 20 minutes of play, but Mansfield came up just short 64-69. The Mounties struggled on the road against Cheyney on Saturday, shooting just 31.7% from the floor in a 51-69 loss. Sophomore Katie Fitzpatrick is leading Mansfield in both scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg) through the early part of the season. McSwain (13.9 ppg) and Jena Matter (11.7 ppg) are the two other Mountaineers averaging double-figure scoring.

Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst dropped two close games last week, falling to California (Pa.), 71-66, and at #2 Gannon, 69-57. Against the Vulcans, Alex Artise scored a career-high 15 points, leading five Lakers in double figures. It marked the first time since December 7, 2009, that five Lakers scored 10 or more points in the same game. Jessica Bell added 10 points and seven boards, both career highs, in the defeat. At #2 Gannon, the Lakers hung tough, as Artise's trey with 6:21 left made it 53-52 Gannon before the Lady Knights held on for the win. Alayna White led with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Artise posted 13 points and eight boards. The Lakers are now 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC. They return to action on Tuesday, December 17, against Lock Haven.
 
Millersville
The Marauders played their first two PSAC East home games of the season against West Chester and East Stroudsburg. Against the Golden Rams, a 16-point halftime deficit was too steep a hill for Millersville to climb as it fell to its rival 91-83. Yasmin Cooper registered her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Celeste Robinson earned the second of her career on 15 points and 12 boards. Senada Mehmedovic was 4-of-9 from behind the arc as she tallied 18 points and Carly Gallagher had 15 points before she fouled out late in the second half. Against the Warriors, Senada Mehmedovic was Millersville’s leading scorer for a third consecutive game with a season-high 20 points on route to a 75-64 win over East Stroudsburg. The team’s lone senior has scored 38 points in her last two games and is 7-of-12 from 3-point land during that span. Gallagher finished with 10 points while Sabina Mehmedovic turned in nine and Alexis Martin and Lexi Scrivano each had eight.

Pitt-Johnstown
Pitt-Johnstown defeated Clarion and Slippery for first PSAC wins since joining conference in July.

Seton Hill
Seton Hill went 1-1 on the week after a 76-60 road loss at Edinboro and a 63-62 victory at home over #25 Indiana (PA) on Saturday.  Meghan Mastroianni's spinning layup with 3.1 seconds to play gave the Griffins the victory.  The Griffins trailed IUP by as many as 14 points in the contest.  IUP attempted 62 field goals in the contest to just 37 field goal attempts for the Griffins.  Paige Alviani led the Griffins with 17 points.  Katie Gattuso had her streak of 6 straight double doubles broken as she finished the game with 15 points and 9 rebounds.  The Griffins will be off for finals week before returning to the court to take on Cheyney and Millersville next week.

Shippensburg
Shippensburg earned a pivotal 92-83 victory over PSAC Eastern Division rival and defending conference champion Bloomsburg on Saturday afternoon from Heiges Field House. The win snapped Shippensburg's (6-1, 3-0 PSAC East) six-game losing streak to the Huskies as the Raiders last defeated Bloomsburg on Jan. 19, 2011 (69-66 at Bloomsburg). It was SU's first home victory over the Huskies since an 80-44 triumph on Jan. 27, 2010. SU's 92 points marked its second 90-point game of the season as the Raiders currently rank third in the PSAC in scoring (81.3 points per game). Shippensburg held a dominant edge at the stripe, shooting 27-of-33 (81.8 percent) compared to just 5-of-7 for BU. Senior guard Sarah Strybuc led all scorers with a career-high 33 points on 11-of-14 shooting and a 6-of-8 effort from three-point range. It was the third game of her career in which she made at least six three-pointers.

Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock showed solid improvement last week, taking No. 2 Gannon to the wire and nearly pulling the biggest upset of the season in a 76-73 loss. The Rock then suffered foul trouble in dropping a double overtime thriller at UPJ, 90-86. D'Asia Chambers scored 30 points in each game last week and averaged 30 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals in the two games.

West Chester 
Dallas Ely scored 56 points, grabbed 16 boards, dished out eight assists to lead West Chester in two road victories and to its fifth straight win, while improving to 6-2 overall and 4-0 PSAC-East. 
Ely scored 25 in an 83-81 triumph over Kutztown on Saturday. Brittany Sicinski recorded her second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 boards in the win. On Wednesday, the sophomore's led the the way as Ely poured in a career high 31, and 10 rebounds, Sicinski had 12 and 10 boards, and classmate Anna Kutz scored 15 while grabbing 11 rebounds in West Chester’s 91-83 victory at Millersville. The Golden Rams are next in action when they travel to Cal on Dec.17 and Slippery Rock a day later, after having a week off.
