California’s John Orr Honored with PSAC Baseball Champion Scholar Award
Johnstown, Pa. – John Orr, a junior outfielder on the California baseball team, has been honored with the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the conference baseball championship. He was presented with the award prior to California's first game of the tournament against West Chester on Wednesday afternoon.

The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III. Orr is the inaugural recipient of the award for the baseball championship as the Champion Scholar Awards are being initiated during the current academic year.
Orr is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. and a graduate of Shaler Area High School. A junior majoring in Biology, Orr has an impressive cumulative 3.975 grade point average and has completed 101 credit hours toward his degree.
