Women's Basketball: East Athlete of the Week
Celeste Robinson
Millersville (So. / G)
Kregsville, Pa. / Jim Thorpe

Milleresville's Celeste Robinson recorded a career-high 26 points and five steals in a 64-58 win at Mercyhurst. The sophomore guard was 12-of-19 from the field, while collecting six rebounds and a trio of assists. The Kregsville, Pa. native followed that with her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-10 shooting in an 84-61 win over Mansfield. Robinson was 3-for-3 from the free throw line and had a career-best three blocks, three steals, and two assists in the win. On the week, she averaged 22.5 points per game, while shooting 69% from the floor, and eight rebounds per outing.
Women's Basketball: East Freshman of the Week
Allison Howard
East Stroudsburg (Fr. / F)
Aurora, Ohio / Aurora

Allison Howard led the Warriors to 2-0 week, averaging 19.5 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, two assists per game, and three steals per game. Howard, the top scorer in each game, notched a career-high 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block in a 74-65 win at Pitt-Johnstown. She recorded 19 points, 14 rebounds, and three steals in a 71-62 win over Shippensburg. The rookie has now posted three double-doubles this season.

Valerie Majewski
Edinboro (Jr. / G)
McKean, Pa. / General McLane

Edinboro's Valerie Majewski registered the fourth triple-double in Edinboro history against Shippensburg. She had 25 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in a 94-74 win over the Raiders. The triple-double was the first since Callie Iorfido did it in 2005-06. She followed that performance with a career-high 27 points in an 83-75 win against Slippery Rock. Majewski averaged 4.5 buckets from beyond the arc this week while shooting 51% from the field. She also averaged eight helpers per game and as many rebounds per outing. 
Women's Basketball: West Freshman of the Week
Kelly Johnson
Clarion (Fr. / G)
Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon

Kelly Johnson of Clarion had 23 points, five rebounds, five steals, four assists in helping Clarion beat PSAC East leading West Chester 82-73 on Wednesday. She then added five more helpers to go with four rebounds and two steals against Gannon on Saturday. For the week, Johnson averaged 12.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 3.5 steals per game. 


TEAM NOTES

Bloomsburg
The Huskies improved to 11-3 overall on the season with wins at No. 20 IUP and vs. non-conference Philadelphia this week. On Wednesday, Bloomsburg pulled the upset at IUP with a 74-62 victory in a re-match of last year’s NCAA Atlantic Regional first round. Junior Jocelyn Ford poured in a new career-high of 20 points while freshman Morgan Klunk added 12. On Saturday, Ford quickly established another career-high with 24 points in a comeback win, 85-82, over Philadelphia U. Senior guard Catherine Noack highlighted an 11-0 run late in the second half to erase a double-digit deficit with a 3-pointer to surpass the 1,000-point mark for her career. Noack joins father Glenn Noack in the Bloomsburg 1,000-point club, becoming the first family duo to reach the milestone in school history. Bloomsburg now owns 16 straight home victories over teams outside the PSAC.

California
The Vulcans extended their winning streak to six games on Wednesday before suffering their first loss since Dec. 7 on Saturday. Cal U was one of three schools (Gannon, Edinboro) to win all six games in PSAC Crossover play this season. The Vulcans hold a 15-2 record in crossover play under third-year head coach Jess Strom. Senior Elena Antonenko and junior Emma Mahady both averaged a team-best 16.5 points last week with Antonenko tying her career high of 20 points at UPJ on Saturday. The Vulcans boasted five players scoring in double-figures in the victory on Wednesday against Mansfield.
 
Cheyney
Cheyney has dropped their last seven and look to rebound taking off the week before returning to action on Saturday at home against Millersville. Lachelle Miller has now scored double figures in her last four contests. Kia Whitley-Duncan equaled her season high with 13 points in the Lady Wolves loss to Kutztown. It was her fifth consecutive game scoring double figures. Destiny McFarlane grabbed a season high nine rebounds against Kutztown.
 
Clarion 
Senior guard Emma Fickel is 48 points shy of 1,000 in her career. She would be the first Golden Eagle to score 1,000 career points since Katrina Greer in 2008. She would be the 15th player in Clarion women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points. Clarion is playing a makeup game vs. Walsh (Ohio) Monday (Jan. 13). The game was originally scheduled for Nov. 26 but was ppd because of weather. With the win over West Chester Wednesday, Clarion is now 7-1 all-time at home vs. the Rams. Freshman Kelly Johnson recorded her second 20-point game of the season in the win over West Chester with 23. With 5 steals in that game as well, it marked the fourth time on the year she has had at least 5 swipes in a game. She is averaging 2.8 steals per game. Junior forward Hannah Heeter recorded her 20th career game of at least 15 rebounds in the win over West Chester Wednesday with 15 boards.

East Stroudsburg
ESU (8-7, 3-2) was 2-0 last week, with wins at Pitt-Johnstown (74-65) and vs. Shippensburg (71-62). The Warriors topped 70 points in consecutive games for the first time this year. ESU committed just 8 turnovers and shot season-best 45.3% in win at UPJ. The 8 turnovers are the team's fewest since 2004-05. The Warriors beat Shippensburg for the first time since 2009-10, and 4th time since 1995-96. Fr. F Allison Howard led Warriors in both games, with career-high 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists at UPJ, and 19 points and 14 rebounds vs. Shippensburg. She is the 4th ESU player with 19+ points, 14+ rebounds in a game since 2002-03. Fr. G Audrey Stapleton scored career-high 11 points at UPJ. Jr. F Jessica Martin had 15 points and 12 rebounds at UPJ, her 5th double-double in 7 games. Martin is 15th in PSAC history with 178 career blocks (PSAC-high 2.7 bpg this year). ESU is 3rd in PSAC in scoring defense (62.3 ppg), 2nd in field goal defense (37.7) and 3rd in 3-point defense (25.5). The Warriors are at Bloomsburg on Wednesday, and idle Saturday.
 
Edinboro
Won their fifth straight in a row with 83-75 victory over Slippery Rock. It is the team's longest winning streak of the season. The Scots have won by an average of 19.3 points during the last three games, 14.2 over the entire win streak. Valerie Majewski had the fourth triple-double in Edinboro history against Shippensburg with 25 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds. Majewski followed that with a career-high 27 points versus Slippery Rock. Majewski had 21 points in the first half, the second highest point total by any Scot in a half this season. Laurel Lindsay registered her second career double-double against Slippery Rock with 19 points (career-high) and 10 rebounds. Lauren Hippo had a career-high 20 points against Shippensburg. Hippo scored 14 first-half points, more than she had scored in any full game before that. Aignee’ Freeland averaged 9.5 points and 7 rebounds this past week…
 
IUP
The Crimson Hawks dropped both of their games this week, losing at home to Bloomsburg 74-62 before getting upset at Mercyhurst 73-64. This is the first two-game losing streak for IUP since the 2010-11 season. Jr. G Lindsay Stamp averaged 18.5 points during the week, including a 28-point output against the Huskies. Jr. G Marita Mathe returned from injury on Saturday to score 15 points in just 22 minutes off the bench against the Lakers. IUP travels to No. 2 Gannon on Wednesday.
 
Gannon
The No. 2 Gannon Lady Knights concluded PSAC crossover play with a mark of 6-0, putting their win streak against East Division opponents at 22 since the 2010-11 season. The Lady Knights captured their 12th double-digit win of the season in the team's 68-47 win over Clarion on Jan. 11, marking their eighth win decided by more than 20 points. The Lady Knights are one of six NCAA Division II women's teams to remain undefeated on the season. Head coach Jim Brunelli is only two wins away from capturing his 100th career victory. The Lady Knights have won 22 consecutive regular-season home games, ranking fourth among active home win-streaks in women’s NCAA Division II action. Spending over a month on the road, the Lady Knights are scheduled to return to the Hammermill Center on Wednesday, Jan. 15, against the No. 20 Indiana Crimson Hawks with the tip set at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Knights hold a 15-13 all-time record against the Crimson Hawks, winning three consecutive games including a 64-46 victory in the PSAC semifinals en route to their 2013 conference team title.

Kutztown
The Golden Bears (6-8, 3-1) are off to a 3-1 start in the Eastern Division. Their 15-point victory against Cheyney marked their largest margin of victory of the season. Alyssa Bonenberger leads the team in scoring at 10.2 per game and her 8.1 rebounds, which rates 12th in the PSAC. She is shooting 42 percent from the field and 84.2 percent from the free throw line, which would rate third in the PSAC if she had not been barely below the minimum attempts. Advia Campbell notched her team-leading third double-double of the season against Cheyney. For the season, she averages 9.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.2 blocks (second in PSAC), and 3.2 steals (leads PSAC). Natalya Lee averaged 13.5 points per game last week, increasing her season output to 9.4 per clip. Freshman Jenna Altomare has burst on the scene with her three-point shooting, as the recent starter has made a team-leading 18 this season.

Lock Haven
The Lady Eagles have a 2-12 overall record entering the week of Jan. 13. LHU fell to the Golden Rams of West Chester on Saturday (Jan. 11), 91-65. In that game, Kelsey Ryan recorded her first double-double of the season with a season-high 13 rebounds and 12 points. In 29 minutes of action, Ryan shot 100% from the free throw line. Marrysa Moyer had another consistent game for the Haven, netting a team-high 13 points in 30 minutes of action. The game against West Chester marked the first of a 13-game conference stretch for the Lady Eagles. Marrysa Moyer ranks second in the PSAC in rebounds (10.5 per game) and seventh in scoring (17.1 per game). The Lady Eagles have a 66.57% shooting percentage from the free throw line this season. LHU will look to earn their third win of the season on Wednesday (Jan. 15) when the Lady Eagles host Mansfield in conference action. 

Mansfield
The Mountaineers dropped games to California and Millersville this week to fall to 0-15 on the season and 0-5 in the PSAC East. Mansfield fell 85-56 on the road at California on Wednesday in the Mountie’s final PSAC crossover match-up of the season. Senior Jena Matter scored a game-high 21 points to lead three Mountaineers in double-figure scoring. Junior Megan McSwain added 12 points and sophomore Katie Fitzpatrick chipped in 10. McSwain scored a career-high 22 points in an 84-61 loss to PSAC eastern division rival Millersville on Saturday at Decker Gymnasium. Freshman Tianna Jackson recorded 12 points and seven rebounds in her first game with the Mountaineers. Mansfield travels to Lock Haven on Wednesday.
 
Mercyhurst
With its victory over #20 IUP, Mercyhurst picked up its first win over a ranked team since February 2012 when it upset #2 Edinboro. The Lakers won, 73-64, tying a season high with 46 points in the first half. Adrienne Kloecker led the way with 23 points, including 17 in the first half. Alayna White posted 18 points and 12 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Mercyhurst outrebounded Indiana, 42-26. The Lakers fell, 64-58, to Millersville Wednesday. Kloecker scored 20 points and is now averaging 21.7 points per game in her last four contests. The Lakers (4-10, 2-2 PSAC) host Edinboro on Wednesday at the MAC.

Millersville
Millersville traveled to Erie, Pa. on Wednesday in its final PSAC crossover of the season and took down Mercyhurst 64-58. Celeste Robinson led the way with career-highs in points (26), field goals made (12), steals (5), and minutes played (38). The sophomore guard was 12-of-19 (.632) from the field and also had six rebounds, three assists and one block. Aunjel Van Brakle registered her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, both of which were career-highs for the redshirt freshman. Carly Gallagher turned in 15 points, three rebounds and two steals. Robinson paced the Marauder offense again on Saturday in an 84-61 win at Mansfield. She earned her second double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds to go with three steals, a career-best three blocks and two assists. Yasmin Cooper added 12 points on a 5-of-5 shooting performance from the field and Shelby Reimer scored 10 points as the final Marauder in double-figures.

Pitt-Johnstown
Pitt-Johnstown snapped a three-game losing streak with 73-72 win over California on Saturday.
 
Seton Hill
Seton Hill won their third straight after a 78-62 victory over Lock Haven last Wednesday. Paige Alviani led the Griffins with 20 points. Katie Gattuso posted another double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. SHU was able to win the contest despite committing 10 more turnovers than Lock Haven. The Griffins return to PSAC West action this week when they host Pitt Johnstown on Wednesday and travel to Clarion on Saturday.
 
Shippensburg
Shippensburg dropped a pair of road contests this week and fell to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC East. The Raiders lost 94-74 at Edinboro on Wednesday in their PSAC crossover finale despite a first-half double-digit lead. Against the Fighting Scots, the Raiders shot 25-of-28 from the free-throw line, good for a season-high 89.2 percent proficiency. SU also let go of a nine-point halftime lead at East Stroudsburg on Saturday in a 71-62 loss. The Raiders cut a 12-point second-half deficit to ESU to as few as two points with 1:30 remaining but could not complete the comeback. The loss snapped Shippensburg's seven-game win streak to the Warriors as its last loss to ESU came on Jan. 16, 2010 (58-55 at ESU).

Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock continues to improve, despite what the record says. The Rock has now lost three overtime or double overtime games this season. SRU defeated Kutztown for its third win of the season. D'Asia Chambers is averaging more than 20 points in her last 11 games and scored 25 and 30 in two games last week.
 
West Chester
West Chester split a pair of games last week. The Golden Rams (10-5, 5-0 East) remained undefeated in the PSAC East with a 91-65 win over Lock Haven on Saturday. Kendall Benovy scored 18 to lead five West Chester players in double figures. West Chester fell at Clarion on Wednesday 82-73, to close out crossover play at 3-3, Benovy led the Golden Rams with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The Golden Rams travel to Shippensburg on Wednesday to take on the Raiders in a key eastern division match-up, before returning to host Bloomsburg on Saturday.
