Jocelyn Ford

Bloomsburg's Jocelyn Ford averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds, and six assists last week as the Huskies snapped East Stroudsburg's three-game winning streak and then handed division-leading West Chester its first PSAC East loss of the year. Ford scored 23 points with nine assists, five rebounds, and a block in the 63-51 win over East Stroudsburg, with 20 of her points coming during second half rally after the Huskies trailed at halftime. Ford, who has been handling point guard duties because of two injured Bloomsburg guards, scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor with six rebounds, three steals and three assists against West Chester. The junior guard netted 14 points during a second half rally that erased a double-digit deficit. |

Lauren Gold

Shippensburg's Lauren Gold averaged 11.5 points, 7.5 assists, four rebounds, and five steals last week. She filled her stat line while shooting a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Against West Chester, Gold scored 15 points while posting six assists, six rebounds, and a trio of steals. In a 107-65 victory against Mansfield, Gold scored eight points with nine assists and seven steals.

Darche' Jackson

Edinboro's Darche' Jackson scored a season-high 22 points and led all players in a 75-72 overtime upset of No. 2 Gannon. Jackson sunk the Fighting Scots' first two shots of overtime to tie the game after falling down by four early in the extra frame. The senior guard also tallied five assists and two steals in the contest, while guarding Brittany Batts, the Division II leader in 3-pointers made per game and 3-point field goal percentage, and limited her to 1-for-4 from the field and just 1-for-3 from 3-point range. The Pittsburgh native added 14 points in an 80-69 win over Mercyhurst, while adding four steals and three assists. On the week, Jackson shot 62.5% from the floor while averaging 18 points per game. |

Miki Glenn

California's Miki Glenn led her team in scoring, rebounding, and assists last week, as the Vulcans posted victories over Clarion and IUP. She averaged 16.5 points, six rebounds and seven assists in the wins. Glenn opened the week with nine points, six rebounds, and six assists in a 77-66 win over the Golden Eagles. Glenn tallied 24 points, six rebounds, and a career-high eight assists in a win at IUP on Saturday. Against the Crimson Hawks, the freshman guard shot 9-of-15 from floor and six-of-eight from the charity stripe. |
TEAM NOTES
Bloomsburg
The Huskies (13-3, 4-2 PSAC East) stretched their winning streak to six in a row with divisional wins over East Stroudsburg and at West Chester this week. Against ESU, junior
Jocelyn Ford scored 23 points with nine assists and had 20 points during the second half to lead the Huskies past the Warriors during the second half and to a 63-51 victory. Bloomsburg again pulled late heroics at West Chester, coming back from 10 points down with less than 10 minutes to play to hand the Golden Rams their first PSAC East loss of the season, 88-80. Senior
Catherine Noack had career highs in points (27), 3-pointers made (7) and assists (6) to guide the Huskies to victory. Ford added 17 points and redshirt sophomore
Adreana Sadowski posted a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds while freshman
Morgan Klunk, returning after missing two games due to injury, netted 11 points. Bloomsburg hosts Mansfield on Wednesday and travels to Kutztown on Saturday.
California (PA)
The Vulcans earned wins in both games last week in divisional play against Clarion and IUP. Cal U recorded its 20-consecutive home victory against Clarion on Wednesday before posting its first-ever win over IUP at the Kovalchick Complex on Saturday. Overall, the Vulcans have won eight of their last nine games and are scoring 75.6 points per game during that span. Freshman guard
Miki Glenn averaged team-best marks in scoring, rebounding and assists last week. She finished with 24 points (16 second half), six rebounds and a career-high eight assists in the victory over the Crimson Hawks. Glenn scored 13-consecutive points for the Vulcans in the second half.
Cheyney
In their only game of the week, Cheyney (2-13:2-4) snapped a seven game skid thanks in part to
Lachelle Miller's three pointer with :00.6 seconds showing on the clock to defeat Millersville (9-7:4-2) 61-60.
Miller came off the bench to score 13 points. It was
Millers' first game back since receiving a hip joint injury. She was forced to miss the Lady Wolves last game at Kutztown and set out the second half against Gannon. It was the first time the Lady Wolves defeated Millersville since January 27, 2010 (67-58).
Kyra Hines-Allen paced the Lady Wolves with 20 points and nine rebounds. Despite 23 turnovers and shooting only 16-59 (27%) the Lady Wolves were on fire from the charity stripe. Cheyney made 16-17 during the first half and followed that up shooting 7-10 in the final 20 minutes. It was only the third time in 24 years that the Lady Wolves defeated Millersville. Cheyney had to use an 8-1 run late in the contest to ties the game at 58. Cheyney travels to East Stroudsburg on Wednesday night before hosting Lock Haven on Saturday.
Clarion
Hannah Heeter recorded two more double-doubles during the week including getting a season-high 24 points at Cal Wednesday. The junior now has double-doubles in 58.3 percent (35 of 60) of the games she has played in her career. With two more double-digit rebounding games,
Heeter also has 41 double-digit rebounding contests in 60 career games (68.3 percent of her games) ... Senior
Emma Fickel is 13 points shy of becoming the 15th player in school history to score 1,000 career points ... Fr.
Jen Straw tied a season high with 9 points Saturday vs. Seton Hill. She also had 3 rebounds & 3 assists ... With a five-steal performance Monday vs. Walsh, Fr.
Kelly Johnson has had at least five steals in 5 different games this season ... After missing 2 games with an injury,
Raven Jones returned to action Wednesday at Cal.
East Stroudsburg
ESU (8-8, 3-3) fell 63-51 at Bloomsburg in its only game last week. Warriors led 28-26 at halftime but were outscored 37-23 in the 2nd half. ESU has trailed at half in 4 of its 8 wins - and led at half in 5 of its 8 losses. The Warriors were coming off consecutive comeback wins at Pitt-Johnstown and vs. Shippensburg. ESU continues to rank highly in the PSAC in major defensive categories - 3rd in scoring (62.4), 2nd in field goal % (37.8) and 2nd in 3-point % (26.1). Offensively, Warriors are 16th in scoring (62.6), 15th in field goal % (38.7) and 17th in 3-point % (25.3). Warriors lead PSAC with 4.88 blocks per game, and Jr. F
Jessica Martin leads PSAC and ranks 12th in DII with 2.7 per game. She is 15th in PSAC history with 180 career blocks.
Martin also leads ESU in scoring (12.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg). Freshman forward
Allison Howard, a 3-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week, averages 11.4 points and 7.4 rebounds. Jr. guard
Ryann Fiascki (9.6 ppg) is the only other Warrior averaging more than 5 points. Ten players are seeing double-figure minutes ... ESU's 8-8 record follows a 7-20 (6-16
Edinboro
Edinboro extended its winning streak to seven games in a row with an upset of No. 2 Gannon in overtime, 75-72.
Darche’ Jackson scored a season-high 22 points.
Laurel Lindsay played all 45 minutes in the game, a career-high.
Darche' Jackson and
Valerie Majewski played a career-high in minutes as well, playing 40 minutes and 42 minutes, respectively.
Jackson's nine field goals tie a career-high. This was the fifth game the Fighting Scots have been outrebounded and are undefeated when that occurs (5-0). The Scots are also 5-0 when they shoot 50 percent or better. This was Edinboro's first overtime game this season, with the last occurring February 22nd, 2012 (59-58 loss at Mercyhurst). Fighting Scots defeated Mercyhurst 80-69 earlier in the week.
Laurel Lindsay scored a career-high 20 points. Edinboro is 11-0 this season when they commit less turnovers than their opponent.
Gannon
This past week, the No. 2 Gannon Lady Knights split their games against Indiana (Pa.) and Edinboro. The Lady Knights returned to the Hammermill Center after nearly a month away from their home court with a 78-69 win over the visiting Crimson Hawks. The win marked the team’s 23rd straight at home, ranking fourth among the active win streaks in NCAA Division II. On Saturday, the Lady Knights fell in overtime to the host Fighting Scots, 75-72. The Gannon Lady Knights remain second in the USA Today Sports Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll for the seventh consecutive week. Dating back to the 2011-12 season, the Lady Knights have been ranked in 35 consecutive polls. Head coach Jim Brunelli is one away from reaching the 100-win career milestone between his time at Anderson (S.C.) and Gannon. The No. 2 Gannon Lady Knights welcome first-year PSAC member Pitt-Johnstown to the Hammermill Center on Wednesday, Jan. 22 with the tip set for 5:30 p.m. The Lady Knights are in pursuit of their first win over the Lady Cats since the 1991-92 season.
IUP
The Crimson Hawks were victims of another 0-2 week, falling to No. 2 Gannon (78-69) on the road and at home to the streaking Vulcans of California (69-63). The losses bring the current streak to four for IUP, its longest losing streak since dropping eight straight to end the 2004-05 season. The Crimson Hawks are now 11-5 overall and seventh in the PSAC West with a 2-4 record. If the postseason started today, IUP would be on the outside looking in. The schedule this week includes a road trip to division leader Edinboro (12-3, 6-0) and a home matchup with the Pride of Slippery Rock (3-13, 0-6).
Kutztown
The Golden Bears (6-10, 3-3) dropped both of their games last week and have lost seven of their last eight. They are in the midst of a three-game road trip, which will end at Shippensburg on Wednesday.
Advia Campbell and
Alyssa Bonenberger can accounted for most of Kutztown's production as of late. They both average 10.3 ppg, and they both rank in the top 15 of the PSAC in rebounding (
Bonenberger – 8.2;
Campbell – 7.6).
Campbell also leads the PSAC in steals (3.2) and is second in blocks (2.1). As a team, KU has had double-digit steals in 12 of its last 13 games. Ending with its loss against Millersville, KU had led at halftime in four straight games, but had won only once. Last season, KU and Shippensburg split their two meetings, with each team winning on the road. KU will play Bloomsburg on Saturday at Keystone Arena, a team it lost to three times last season including the PSAC Quarterfinals.
Lock Haven
The Lady Eagles are currently 4-12 overall and 2-3 in PSAC East action. The Lady Eagles are coming off two conference wins against Mansfield (Jan. 15) and Kutztown (Jan. 18). LHU edged Kutztown, 66-51 with four lady eagles scoring in double figures. The balanced attack jumped ahead early in the first period to gain an, 32-14 lead at the break. The Lady Eagles continued to gain momentum and sealed the win. On Wednesday (Jan. 15) the Lady Eagles defeated Mansfield at home, 56-43 in conference action.
Marrysa Moyer recorded a double-double to anchor the Haven. LHU fell behind early in the first half, but rallied to give their first lead. LHU played exceptional defense to stretch the lead, and earn its first conference win of the season.
Marrysa Moyer leads LHU with 10.9 points per game and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Moyer ranks fifth in the PSAC in scoring and third in rebounds. The Lady Eagles host Millersville in conference action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and travel to Cheyney on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Mansfield
Mansfield fell short in both games this week, losing to both Lock Haven and Shippensburg. Mansfield will take the court again when Bloomsburg comes to them on 1/22/2014.
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst split two Western Division contests, falling to Edinboro, 80-69, before winning at Slippery Rock, 82-75. At The Rock, five Lakers scored in double figures, led by
Katie Fischer, who scored a career-high 20 points.
Alayna White posted her seventh double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Adrienne Kloecker put up 19 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Mercyhurst scored a season-high 48 points in the second half to rally from a 44-34 halftime deficit. In the game against Edinboro,
Kloecker scored 24 points, including 19 in the first half.
Jessica Bell matched a career high with 10 points. The Lakers are now 3-3 in the Western Division entering their home game against Clarion January 22.
Millersville
Wednesday in a 65-64 victory over Kutztown, the Marauders outscored the Golden Bears 38-22 in the paint, 34-22 off turnovers and 16-6 in fast break points.
Carly Gallagher led all scorers with 18 points to go with seven rebounds, a career-high five steals and four assists.
Celeste Robinson dropped 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting and secured five steals.
Alexis Martin turned in her third double-double of the season (10 points, 10 rebounds) and was 5-for-8 from the floor.
Senada Mehmedovic was the fourth and final Marauder in double-figures with 10 points, a personal-best five steals, four assists, and four rebounds. Saturday, Cheyney defeated Millersville 61-60 on a 3-pointer from
Lachelle Miller with just seven-tenths of a second to play. The Marauders were without Robinson who missed her first game of the season.
Gallagher again led the team in scoring with 13 points and
Martin was the other scorer in double-figures with 10.
Pitt-Johnstown
Early in the week Pitt-Johnstown pulled out a close win to California (PA) with the score of 73-72. Later in the week they lost to Seton Hill with the score of 80-83. Pitt-Johnstown will be in action next at Gannon on 1/22/2014.
Seton Hill
Seton Hill has run their winning streak to five after two victories last week. The Griffins defeated UPJ 88-66 and Clarion 64-58 to improve to 11-5 and 3-3 in PSAC West play.
Katie Gattuso posted two more double doubles to give her 11 on the season. SHU will travel to Slippery Rock on Wednesday and California (PA) on Saturday as they continue PSAC West play.
Shippensburg
Shippensburg went 1-1 on the week with a home loss to West Chester on Wednesday before easily dispatching Mansfield in an historic road win on Saturday. SU scored 107 points at Mansfield, the most its had in a game in nearly 25 years (1990). It was the first 100-point game for SU since 2000, its 57 percent shooting was the highest in a game since 2003, its 25 assists were the most in a game since 2002 and its 22 steals were the most in a game since 1999. SU scored 57 first-half points, its most in a first half in at least the last 15 years. In total on the week, SU had 10 double-digit scoring performances, including all five starters in double-figures vs. West Chester.
Slippery Rock
D'Asia Chambers continues to be impressive, scoring 31 points to reach the 30-point milestone for the fourth time this season. SRU as a team continues to be close, but is still searching for a winning formula in the division.
West Chester
West Chester split a pair of contests last week, winning 87-86 on a basket with two seconds left by
Dallas Ely at Shippensburg on Wednesday, and falling to hot shooting Bloomsburg 88-80 at home Saturday. The loss was the first in conference for the Golden Rams, who have a league leading six conference victories. West Chester is the highest scoring team in the league at 81.6, and
Dallas Ely is the conference leader at 19.2 per contest. The Golden Rams host East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
