West Chester's Dallas Ely averaged 22 points per game in PSAC crossover play last week. Ely scored 25 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and was credited with five steals in a 78-73 win over Mercyhurst. She went 5-for-10 from beyond the three-point arc, including 3-of-4 in the second half. She scored a team-best 19 points in a loss to No. 2 and undefeated Gannon. She was 5-for-5 from three-point range in the first half as she tried to keep her team in the game. With 10 steals last week, Ely ranks third in the conference in steals per game with 2.8. The sophomore guard has scored at least 20 points in six of the last eight games. |

Shippensburg's Morgan Griffith averaged 9.5 points per game along with nine rebounds per game in PSAC crossover play. In Shippensburg's 74-73 overtime win against Slippery Rock she notched a double-double with 15 rebounds and 11 points, while adding a pair of blocks. Against California, Griffith recorded eight points on 4-of-6 shooting, while adding three rebounds and two blocks. |

Valerie Majewski
Edinboro (Jr. / G)
McKean, Pa. / General McLane
Edinboro's Valerie Majewski averaged 19.7 points per game in three victories last week. Majewski shot 56.8 percent from the floor, while pouring in 23 points in a 74-67 win over Millersville. The junior guard notched 19 points in a 62-56 win over Winston-Salem State to help the Fighting Scots avenge an early season loss to the Rams, while earning 17 points against Cheyney. Majewski averaged three assists and three steals per outing last week, while going 8-of-11 from the charity stripe and 9-of-16 from three-point range. |

Miki Glenn

California's Miki Glenn led her team in scoring, rebounding and assists last week, as the Vulcans earned road PSAC crossover wins over Shippensburg and Kutztown. She averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists while shooting 50 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free-throw line. Glenn scored a career-high 28 points at Shippensburg, making 9-of-16 from the floor, including a trio of three-pointers, and seven-of-eight from the charity stripe. She also collected five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the victory over the Raiders. The following day, the West Virginia native posted seven points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a win at Kutztown. |
TEAM NOTES
Bloomsburg
The Bloomsburg women’s basketball team completed a perfect weekend of conference crossover play, defeating Clarion, 72-52, on Friday before dropping Pitt-Johnstown, 90-64 on Saturday. The wins moved the Huskies to 9-3 overall on the season. Against Clarion,
Jocelyn Ford and
Adreana Sadowski each scored 12 points while
Brianna Dudeck had 11. Both Sadowski and Ford were stellar the next day vs. UPJ, with Sadowski pouring in a career-high 30 points while Ford equaled her career-best of 16 while the Huskies forced UPJ into 30 turnovers on the day. Senior
Catherine Noack also continued to close in a career milestone, finishing the weekend with 975 points with BU. Bloomsburg completes crossover play by travelling to IUP on Wednesday before hosting Philadelphia in the final non-conference game of the year on Saturday, Jan. 11.
California
The Vulcans extended their winning streak to five games with a pair of PSAC Crossover wins over the weekend. Cal U has won seven of its last eight games after being winless through the opening four games of the year. The Vulcans scored a season-high 95 points on Friday at Shippensburg, marking their first 90-point game since December 2012. Freshman
Miki Glenn and juniors
Kaitlynn Fratz and
Emma Mahady each scored at least 20 points in the victory, combining for 75 points. Glenn scored a career high 28 points against the Raiders, marking the most points in a game since February 2011 and the most points by a freshman since December 2007. Over the last eight games, Cal U is averaging 74.6 points and shooting over 42 percent from the field after totaling 65.8 points and .335 field-goal percentage in the opening four games of the year.
Cheyney
The Lady Wolves have dropped five straight and look to rebound at Gannon on Wednesday night. Cheyney shot a season low .288 (15-52) in the loss to Edinboro.
Lachelle Miller has led the Lady Wolves in scoring each of the last three games. In those games she has scored 18, 17 and 17 points respectively. The three games were the Wolves longest home stand of the season. Cheyney will not return to Cope Hall until January 18when they face Millersville.
Clarion
Clarion's 2-point win over East Stroudsburg (68-66) Saturday marked the first time this season a game has been decided by single digits for the Golden Eagles. It also ran Clarion's record in game's decided by one possession to 10-1 over the past four years. Clarion, which was down 10 at halftime, won the game when Tania Holmes hit two free throws with 32 seconds left. It marked the second come-from-behind win in 3 games for the Golden Eagles. Hannah Heeter recorded her fourth double-double of the season Friday at Bloomsburg with 16 points and 14 rebounds. She has 33 double-doubles in her career and needs three more double-doubles this season to move into sixth place in school history for double-doubles by a junior.
Alison Campbell (1998) and
Jeannine Tyler (1991) each had seven.
East Stroudsburg
ESU (6-7) fell to #2 Gannon, 67-48, on Friday and led Clarion the entire way before falling 68-66 on Saturday at Koehler Fieldhouse. Warriors led Gannon at halftime, 29-28, before Golden Knights responded in 2nd half. ESU was looking for its first-ever win over a Top 25 team since WBCA/USA Today poll started in 1996-97. Against Clarion, Warriors led until the 3:18 mark, then rattled off a 6-0 run before Clarion scored the final 5 points. Jr. F
Jessica Martin (20 points, 11 rebounds) had her 6th double-double of the season, and 16th of her career. Jr. G
Ryann Fiascki tied her career-high with 18 points. Fr. F
Allison Howard, a 2-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week, had 12 points and 8 rebounds vs. Gannon. Martin continues to lead the PSAC in blocks (2.6 per game), and ESU leads as a team (5.0). Warriors are 2nd in PSAC in scoring defense (61.6 ppg) and field goal defense (37.3%), but are 17th in scoring, field goal % and three-point % on offense. Warriors travel to Pitt-Johnstown and host Shippensburg this week.
Edinboro
Edinboro has a three-game winning streak after ending the year with a 62-56 win at Winston-Salem State, followed by a pair of wins to start 2014. The Fighting Scots used a 19-3 first half run to grab the lead at Millersville, then limited the Marauders to just two baskets over the final four minutes for a 74-67 win. The next day Edinboro held Cheyney to just 28.8 percent shooting, including 4 of 27 in the second half, in an 81-51 victory.
Val Majewski had a big week, leading the Scots in scoring in all three games. She opened with a 19-point effort at Winston-Salem State on New Year’s Eve as Edinboro avenged an earlier 59-58 loss at McComb Fieldhouse. Next came a season-high 23 points at Millersville, as the University at Buffalo transfer made 7 of 11 field goals, including 4 of 6 3-pointers. Edinboro was 9-for-17 from the beyond the arc. She closed the week with a 17-point effort at Cheyney.
Hope Mancini has now scored 141 points this year. That is 27 points more than the senior guard scored in her first three seasons when she had 116 points in 40 games. Head coach Stan Swank now has 474 career victories.
IUP
The Crimson Hawks improved their record to 11-1 on the season with a pair of road wins against PSAC East opponents Mansfield (78-63) and Lock Haven (77-66) last weekend. Four players scored in double-figures in each game, including Jr. G
Lindsay Stamp who had her eighth and ninth 20-point performances of the season and averaged 24.0 points. Jr. F
Ashley Stoner averaged 18.5 points and 8.0 rebounds and Jr. G
Amy Fairman scored 10 points in each game. IUP returns home to host rival Bloomsburg at the KCAC on Wednesday.
Gannon
The No. 2 Gannon Lady Knights are 5-0 in PSAC crossover action this season, improving their all-time record against conference Eastern Division opponents to 31-2. In cross-divisional play, the Lady Knights are 15-1 at the Hammermill Center and 16-1 on the road. The Lady Knights have won 21 straight in PSAC cross-divisional play. The weekend of Jan. 3, the Lady Knights concluded a three-game cross-divisional road swing that began before the holiday break by defeating East Stroudsburg and the PSAC East Division leader West Chester. The Lady Knights defeated East Stroudsburg, 67-48, on Friday afternoon. The next day, the Lady Knights defeated East Division leader West Chester, 87-64, shutting down the conference's top scoring offense in the second half, as the Golden Rams shot 26.9 percent from the field. Head coach Jim Brunelli is four career-wins away from reaching 100. Next up, the Lady Knights will host Cheyney on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Junker Center on the campus of Penn State Behrend with the tip set for 5:30 p.m.
Kutztown
Kutztown (5-7, 2-1) dropped both of its games last week and looks to snap its four-game skid with a pair of games this week.
Advia Campbell averaged 10 points and seven rebounds over the crossover weekend, and averages 9.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Her 29 blocks rate second in the PSAC.
Alyssa Bonenberger leads Kutztown with 10.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She is 14th in the PSAC in rebounding. The Golden Bears wrap up their PSAC crossover stint on Wednesday, Jan. 8, going on the road to square off against last-place Slippery Rock at 5:30 p.m.
Lock Haven
The Lock Haven women’s basketball team went 1-1 this past week with an, 70-58 win against Pitt-Johnstown and an, 77-66 loss against Indiana (Pa.). The Lady Eagles battled hard for the win against Pitt-Johnstown.
Marrysa Moyer recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds in the win.
Emily Daugherty recorded 12 points, three rebounds, and a team-high five assists. Despite a loss against Indiana (Pa.), The Haven battled and stayed toe-to-toe with The Crimson Hawks. Daugherty led LHU with 20 points and Moyer added 18 points and eight rebounds. Moyer is currently ranked 6th in the PSAC with 17.4 points and 10.9 rebounds. Daugherty is second in the PSAC with minutes played, averaging 34.7 minutes per game. This upcoming week The Lady Eagles are looking to advance their 2-9 record as they face Seton Hill and West Chester.
Mansfield
Mansfield dropped a pair of PSAC crossover contests against IUP and Seton Hill to fall to 0-13 on the season. The Mountaineers played one-loss IUP tough in a 78-63 defeat before dropping a 70-56 decision to Seton Hill. Junior
Alyssa DeRichie connected on 6-8 shooting from the floor and was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line to score a team-high 16 points and lead four Mounties in double-figure scoring against IUP.
Jena Matter posted a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds against Seton Hill for her fifth double-double of the season. The Mountaineers travel to California (Pa.) on Wednesday for their final PSAC crossover game of the season.
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst split two road crossovers this past weekend, moving to 3-9 entering a season-long three-game home stand. The Lakers fell, 78-73, at West Chester January 3.
Alayna White put up a career-high 24 points and recorded 13 rebounds and five steals. The next day, Mercyhurst took down Cheyney, 79-65.
Adrienne Kloecker scored a career-best 26 points, hitting four three-pointers. White posted 15 points on 6-6 field goal shooting. The Lakers host Millersville on January 8 to close PSAC crossover action. Mercyhurst resumes Western Division play on January 11, when it welcomes IUP to the MAC.
Millersville
Millersville (6-6) rang in 2014 with a 68-55 win over Slippery Rock. The Marauders used a 10-0 second-half run to seal the victory.
Carly Gallagher tallied a team-high 15 points, 13 of which came in the second half, to go with three steals, two assists and one rebound.
Yasmin Cooper registered her fourth career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting from the field.
Alexis Martin was the third and final Marauder in double-figures with 10 points and five boards. Saturday, the Marauders fell to Edinboro by a score of 74-67. The Fighting Scots opened the game on a 21-10 run and didn’t look back. Gallagher earned her first career double-double with a team-high 18 points and a career-high 10 rebounds to go with three assists and two steals. Martin also registered a double-double with 13 points and a personal-best 13 rebounds while
Celeste Robinson was the third scorer in double-figures with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor.
Pitt-Johnstown
Pitt-Johnstown suffered a pair of road losses this week. The Lady Cats fell 70-58 to Lock Haven and 90-64 to Bloomsburg.
Seton Hill
Seton Hill swept the PSAC crossovers this past weekend with a 68-56 victory at Kutztown and a 70-56 victory at Mansfield.
Tiara Stossel posted a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the win at Kutztown.
Paige Alviani scored 17 in each contest and went over the 1,500 career point mark in the win at Mansfield. Seton Hill will host Lock Haven on Wednesday to close out PSAC crossover action.
Shippensburg
Shippensburg split a pair of tight contests against PSAC West opponents in home conference crossover play this weekend. The Raiders fell 95-90 in a back-and-forth affair to California (Pa.) on Friday before holding off a resilient Slippery Rock squad on Saturday in a 74-73 overtime victory. 15th-year head coach Kristy Trn ‘93/’94M secured her 250th career victory in the win over the Rock. SU’s 90 points in defeat to Cal are its most in a losing effort in nearly 20 years (Feb. 15, 1993, 98-95 to IUP). Sophomore
Stephanie Knauer scored a career-high 31 points against the Vulcans and added a season-high 16 rebounds. For the weekend, Knauer averaged 23.5 points and 11.5 rebounds and now ranks fourth in the PSAC in each category for the season. Senior
Sarah Strybuc averaged 15.5 points per game on the weekend and is now scoring at a 19.3-point-per-clip on the season, giving SU two of the top four scorers in the PSAC. Freshman
Morgan Griffith recorded her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday with 11 points and 15 rebounds. Against Slippery Rock, the Raiders had all five of their starters score in double figures – a feat they hadn’t achieved since a loss to West Chester nearly three years ago on Feb. 24, 2010.
Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock dropped a pair of road crossovers, falling late at Millersville and falling in overtime by one-point at PSAC-East leader Shippensburg. The Rock has now dropped three overtime games and sits at 2-11 overall with one remaining crossover left.
Jazmyne Frost (16.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg) and
D'Asia Chambers (14.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg) lead the team in scoring and rebounding.
West Chester
West Chester split its PSAC West crossover matches at home last week, defeating Mercyhurst 78-73, before falling to No. 2 and undefeated Gannon, 87-64. West Chester still leads the PSAC in points per game, averaging 81.2 points per game. So., G
Dallas Ely ranks second in the conference in scoring (20.3 ppg) while So., G
Brittany Sicinski ranks ninth (15.8). Ely also ranks third in the PSAC in 3-point FG per game and ninth in free throw percentage. Ely has registered at least 20 points in a game in six of her last eight outings. West Chester is currently 3-2 against the PSAC West with one more game to go on Wednesday at Clarion.
