West Chester, Pa. - Lucy Kauffman of Shippensburg was presented the 2014 PSAC Field Hockey Champion Scholar award prior to the Raiders' PSAC Semifinal match against Millersville on Friday afternoon in West Chester, Pa. Kauffman is the first Shippensburg field hockey student-athlete to receive the award.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Award, begun during the 2011-12 academic year, is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship final sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.

Kauffman, a native of Dillsburg, Pa., owns a 3.905 grade point average and has earned 96 credits towards her biology degree. The senior is also a two-time All-PSAC player and was named to the All-PSAC First Team in her final season.
