PSAC QUICK HITS
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
• Saturday marks the 35th PSAC Football Championship Game matching the top representative from the Eastern and Western Division.
• The game was played annually from 1960 through 1987 one week after the end of the regular season. The PSAC reinstated the game in 2008.
• PSAC Football Champions have been crowned since 1934. In addition to the Championship Game, the following methods also have been utilized:
1934 – 1949 – Sportswriters poll
1950-1959 – Saylor Points System
1988-2007 – Divisional Champions recognized
PSAC Championship Game Rematches
• Following last year’s 42-38 Bloomsburg win over Slippery Rock, the 2014 PSAC Championship Game marks the first rematch of opponents since the reinstatement of the contest. There have been five previous rematches, the most recent came during the final two years of the original era when IUP downed West Chester in 1986 and 1987.
