Women's Basketball: East Athlete of the Week
Jessica Martin
East Stroudsburg (Jr./ F)
Brownstown, Pa./Conestoga Valley

East Stroudsburg's Jessica Martin recorded two double-doubles as ESU earned its first four-game winning streak since 2008-09. She hit the game-tying shot in final three minutes of both victories. In a 60-57 win over Lock Haven she scored 19 points, while notching 12 rebounds, three assists, and a block. She finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, a pair of steals and as many blocks in a 57-54 win against Millersville. Against the Marauders, Martin scored six of the Warriors' final 10 points. Martin has moved in the PSAC career top 10 with 200 career blocks.

Kelsey Watson
Kutztown (Fr./ F)
Collegeville, Pa./ Methacton

Kutztown's Kelsey Watson led the Golden Bears to a 67-60 victory over Mansfield. She matched her season-high of 19 points while grabbing five rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Against West Chester Watson scored eight points and pulled-down four rebounds. Last week she shot 60% from the field and 69.2% from the free-throw line.

Kaitlynn Fratz

Accident, Md./Northern Garrett

California's Kaitlynn Fratz averaged 18.5 points, four assists and 2.5 steals last week while helping lead the Vulcans to a pair of wins in PSAC West play, highlighted by a 80-55 victory at division-leading Edinboro. She shot an efficient 59.1% from the floor and 75.0% from the free-throw line. Fratz scored a game-high 25 points and collected four assists and three steals in a 79-65 win against Mercyhurst. In the victory, she scored 16 of her points in the opening eight minutes of the game after making seven of her first eight shots. The Maryland native then tallied 12 points with four helpers against the Fighting Scots. 
Women's Basketball: West Freshman of the Week
Miki Glenn

Bridgetport, W.Va./ Bridgeport

California's Miki Glenn helped her team to a 80-55 victory against Edinboro on Saturday. Glenn had 22 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while shooting 50% from the floor and 78.6% from the free-throw line in 35 minutes of play against The Fighting Scots. She was limited to just nine minutes of play against Mercyhurst due to injury.

TEAM NOTES
 
Bloomsburg

The Huskies (19-3, 10-2 PSAC East) stretched their winning streak to 12 consecutive games with an 89-49 win at Cheyney on Thursday night and then held off Shippensburg, 68-65, on Saturday afternoon. At Cheyney, the Huskies were led by a double-double from redshirt sophomore Adreana Sadowski, who posted 27 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in just 24 minutes on the floor. Junior Marla Simmons collected her first career double-double with 10 points and career-high 10 rebounds. Bloomsburg then avenged an early season loss at Shippensburg on Saturday, led by 15 points from senior Catherine Noack and 14 each from Sadowski and junior Jocelyn Ford. The game featured four lead changes over the final 70 seconds with Bloomsburg hitting clutch free throws at the line late while forcing a Raiders turnover with 10 seconds to play to come away with the win. The 12-game winning streak is the third of a dozen games under head coach Bill Cleary, with the Huskies also reaching the mark during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Bloomsburg has one game this week – Saturday at East Stroudsburg.
 
California
The Vulcans recorded a pair of victories last week in divisional play and have now won six of their last seven games. With its win on Saturday, Cal U snapped a four-game losing streak to Edinboro at the McComb Fieldhouse and posted the first victory over the Fighting Scots in PSAC West play this season. Junior G Kaitlynn Fratz nearly equaled her season high on Wednesday, finishing with 25 points (16 first half) while playing all 40 minutes against Mercyhurst. After being slowed by an injury against the Lakers, freshman G Miki Glenn led all players with 22 points and added seven rebounds at Edinboro. Junior F Irina Kukolj is averaging 13.2 points and 1.8 steals over the last six games while primarily coming off the bench. The Vulcans have six players averaging at least 7.5 points per game, but no player ranks among the top 25 in the league in scoring.
 
Cheyney
The Lady Wolves grabbed a season high 52 rebounds in downing Mansfield for their first road victory of the season. The Lady Wolves last road victory was also at Mansfield during the 2012-13 season. Cheyney used a 23-2 first half run to break the game open. The lead stayed in double digits the rest of the game. Cheyney was also credited with a season high 13 steals. In the victory Kia Whitley-Duncan tallied a career high 34 points. Destiny McFarlane also grabbed a career high 16 rebounds. Cheyney will look to make it two in a row for the first time this season on Wednesday night when they host Kutztown. Earlier in the week, Cheyney fell to Bloomsburg.
 
Clarion
Hannah Heeter recorded her seventh straight double-double in Clarion's lone game of the week vs. Pitt-Johnstown Wednesday with 19 points, 11 rebounds. It was her 11th of the season and 40th of her career making her just the fourth player in school history with at least 40 career double-doubles. She also went over the 900-point mark (907) and 800-rebound mark (801) for her career in the game. So. Jasmine Boyd set a career-high for points with 17 vs. UPJ while tying her career-best in rebounds with nine. Clarion's win in Johnstown marked just the third time Clarion has ever at UPJ in 22 tries. Sr. Emma Fickel needs 21 points to tie Cheryl Bansek for 10th in school history in scoring. Fickel has 1,028 career points.  Fr. Kelly Johnson had three steals vs. UPJ giving her at least three steals 11 times this season
 
East Stroudsburg
ESU (13-9, 8-4) moved into 3rd in the PSAC East with two wins last week, 60-57 at Lock Haven and 57-54 vs. Millersville. Warriors have their first four-game winning streak since 2008-09. ESU came back from an eight-point deficit with eight minutes left at Lock Haven, then toppled Millersville for the second time in the last 16 tries. Jr. F Jessica Martin had a double-double in both games, with 19 points and 12 rebounds at Lock Haven and 18 points and 11 rebounds vs. Millersville. She moved into the top 10 in PSAC history in career blocks (200), which includes a PSAC freshman record of 76 in 2011-12. She ranked sixth in DII with 2.9 blocks per game last week. Martin has 10 double-doubles this season and 20 in her career. She moved into ESU's career top 20 in scoring and top 10 in rebounding, while ranking second in blocked shots. ESU leads the PSAC in field goal percentage defense (37.2) and 3-point percentage defense (25.7), while ranking third in scoring defense (61.6). In its four-game winning streak, Warriors are allowing just 54.0 ppg, 31.6 field goal percentage and forcing 21.0 turnovers per game. ESU travels to fourth-place Shippensburg and hosts second-place Bloomsburg next week. Warriors knocked off Ship, 71-62, on January 11 with Fr. F Allison Howard posting 19 points and 14 rebounds.
 
Edinboro
Edinboro split last week's contest going 1-1. After defeating Seton Hill 65-53 and holding Seton Hill to the second-lowest scoring amount by an opponent this season, they lost 80-55 to California (Pa.). The 25-point loss to Cal was the biggest home loss since 2002-03 against Millersville. Aignee' Freeland had a double-double against Seton Hill, her fifth straight and ninth of the season.  Laurel Lindsay tied a career-high with 20 points against Cal. The Fighting Scots committed a season-high 24 turnovers versus the Vulcans.
 
Gannon
Facing their largest halftime deficit of the season, the No. 3 Gannon Lady Knights shot 66.7 percent from the field in the second half to defeat Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Division rival Mercyhurst, 70-56, on Feb. 8, at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. Senior Jen Papich went a perfect 9-for-9 from the floor, leading the Lady Knights with 22 points in the win. The win over rival Mercyhurst marked the Lady Knights 16th victory by double digits this season. Earlier in the week, the No. 3 Lady Knights clinched a spot in the PSAC Tournament with a win over Slippery Rock, 71-39, on Feb. 5, at the Hammermill Center. The victory extended the Lady Knights' home unbeaten streak to 26 games, the second best active streak in NCAA Division II. Next up, Gannon will host Edinboro on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 5:30 p.m. Entering the final stretch of the regular season, the second-place Fighting Scots will face the first-place Lady Knights with home court advantage in the PSAC Tournament on the line. The Lady Knights will look for revenge after falling to the Fighting Scots, 75-72, in overtime on Jan. 18.
 
IUP
The Crimson Hawks won their fourth consecutive game with a resounding 81-60 victory over Seton Hill at home on Saturday. Jr. F Ashley Stoner set a school record for most makes in a game without a miss, finishing 11-of-11 from the field and tied a career-high with 22 points.  IUP improved to 15-6 overall on the season and remain in fourth place in the PSAC West with a 6-5 divisional mark.  They Crimson Hawks have a pair of revenge games on the schedule this week, traveling to face Cal on Wednesday before hosting third-ranked Gannon on Saturday.
 
Kutztown
The Golden Bears (7-14, 4-7 PSAC East) currently sit in sixth place in the East, two games behind Millersville. They split their two games last week, defeating Mansfield 67-60 on Thursday night. Freshman Kelsey Watson scored a season-high tying 19 points in just 26 minutes of action. Junior Advia Campbell leads the team in scoring at 10.2 per game, followed by Alyssa Bonenberger (9.7), Natalya Lee (9.0), and Watson (7.9). Campbell's 2.5 blocks per game ranks second in the PSAC and her 3.0 steals per game is the highest in the conference. Kutztown travels to Cheyney Wednesday night, and hosts Millersville on Saturday.
 
Lock Haven
The Lady Eagles are currently 4-17 over and 2-9 in the conference. LHU is coming off a loss to East Stroudsburg on Thursday (Feb. 6). The Lady Eagles fought a defensive battle but couldn't pull out the win down the stretch.  Redshirt junior Emily Daugherty and junior guard Marrysa Moyer have been the anchors for this Haven team this season. Moyer leads LHU averaging 15.6 points per game and grabbing 9.4 rebounds. Daugherty is right behind Moyer with 13.9 points per game. Moyer ranks 12th in the conference in scoring and 3rd in rebounds. Senior Kelsey Ryan and sophomore J.J. Hilliard have had all-around performances for the Haven this year with strong consistent play. Hilliard has dished out 54 assists this season and will look to continue to drive LHU through the final stretch of their season. The lady Eagles average 65.0 points and 40.9 rebounds per game. Looking ahead the Lady Eagles will look to make a late season run and snap a five game losing streak when the Lady Eagles host West Chester on Wednesday (Feb. 12). 
 
Mansfield
The Mountaineers fell in a pair of close PSAC East contests this week against Kutztown and Cheyney. Jena Matter led the Mountaineers with 17 points on the road against Kutztown, but it wouldn't be enough as the Mounties dropped a 67-60 decision. In that game, Matter became the 15th player in program history to surpass the 1,000 point milestone. On Saturday, a late comeback fell just short as the Mountaineers lost 73-62 to visiting Cheyney. Matter leads Mansfield in both scoring (14.6 ppg) and rebounding (8.2 rpg) and has recorded 10 double-doubles this season. The Mountaineers travel to Millersville on Wednesday.
 
Mercyhurst
Mercyhurst has lost four in a row, falling to 4-7 in the Western Division. It dropped a 79-65 decision at California (Pa.) and then fell, 70-56, to #3 Gannon last week. At Cal, Adrienne Kloecker recorded 22 points and seven rebounds, while Alayna White scored 20 points. In the loss to GU, Kloecker registered 16 points, six boards, and five assists. White added 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Lakers led, 26-28, at halftime before Gannon regained the lead in the second half. Mercyhurst hosts Slippery Rock on Wednesday at the MAC. The Lakers won, 82-75, at The Rock on January 18.
 
Millersville
Millersville dropped a pair of three-point decisions to the likes of West Chester (85-82) and East Stroudsburg (57-54). The Golden Rams outscored the Marauders 20-9 over the final six minutes and 40 seconds to get the victory on their home court. Yasmin Cooper turned in a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Celeste Robinson led all scorers with 19 points to go with five assists, four rebounds and one steal. Carly Gallagher tallied 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and was 2-for-5 from behind the arc. Shelby Reimer had 11 points, two steals, one rebound and made three of her eight 3-point attempts. Sabina Mehmedovic tied a career-high in points with 11. The Warriors held the Marauders to just 54 points on 16-of-49 shooting (32.7 percent) shooting from the field. Gallagher led all scorers with 23 points and Reimer was the other Millersville scorer in double-figures with 11 points for a third-straight game.
 
Pitt-Johnstown
Pitt-Johnstown snapped two-game losing streak with 76-60 win at Slippery Rock on Saturday
 
Seton Hill
Seton Hill was busy this past week losing both to Edinboro and IUP with the scores of 53-65 and 60-81 respectively. On Wednesday the 12th Seton Hill will host the pink game to Clarion and on Saturday the 15th travel to Pitt-Johnstown.
 
Shippensburg
Shippensburg exchanged four leads in the final 70 seconds of its Saturday afternoon game at Bloomsburg but ultimately lost, 68-65. SU was off on Wednesday and only played once last week. Freshman Morgan Griffith (Hollidaysburg Area) scored a career-high 20 points that included a pair of 3-pointers (Griffith had just three 3-pointers all season entering Saturday). SU posted a +17 rebounding margin against Bloomsburg, its third-highest advantage of the season. SU now sits in fourth-place in the PSAC East entering its Wednesday matchup with third-place ESU. SU’s 79.3 points per game ranks second in the PSAC. Sophomore Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) leads the PSAC and ranks among the Top five in the country in shooting 63.3 percent from the field. Freshman Lauren Gold (Abington Friends) leads the PSAC in made free throws (120) and free-throw percentage (90.2). Senior Sarah Strybuc (Archbishop Ryan) ranks third in the PSAC in scoring (17.8 ppg).
 
Slippery Rock
This past week was a busy week for Slippery Rock on Wednesday the 5th The Rock fell to Gannon 39-71 and fell to Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday the 8th 60-76. Slippery Rock will only play in one game next week traveling to Mercyhurst on the 12th.

West Chester
WCU picked up a pair of conference victories at home, to improve to 11-1, and clinch a playoff berth, while staying a game ahead of Bloomsburg, atop the east. The 11-1 record matches the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 squads that finished at 11-1, for West Chester's best start in conference. The Golden Rams are sixth in Division II in scoring, averaging 83 points a game. Dallas Ely leads the conference in scoring at 19.2 and is tied for third with teammate Jasmen Clark with 2.7 steals a game, Brittany Sicinski is fifth with 2.5 thefts a game, is sixth with 4.1 assists, and her 16 points a game is eighth in the league. West Chester travels to Lock Haven on Wednesday, and hosts Shippensburg on Saturday.
