Enrietto Honored with PSAC Heaslip Media Award

Slippery Rock, Pa. - John Enrietto of the Butler Eagle has been chosen by the league's sports information directors as the winner of the 2014 PSAC George Heaslip Award. Enrietto received the award Monday among amongst peers and colleagues at the PSAC West Football Media Luncheon hosted by Slippery Rock University.

Enrietto has covered the PSAC, its member institutions and its student athletes for the last 18 years. His primary focus at the Butler Eagle has been providing coverage of the football and men’s and women’s basketball programs at Slippery Rock and Clarion, while also covering the universities’ Olympics sports. Enrietto also writes feature content about student-athletes from the Bulter Eagle coverage area who attend other PSAC institutions.

Previously, Enrietto has won the Lernerville Speedway Media Award for his dedication to sufficiently covering Slippery Rock athletics. During the football season, he attends weekly football luncheons at the Slippery Rock and travels to all games.    

He began his career in Ohio after earning a degree in journalism from Ohio University. Before joining the Butler Eagle in 1997, he was a journalist for the Steubenville Herald Star in Ohio.

Enrietto becomes the 26th  winner of the Heaslip Award which is chosen annually by the league’s sports information directors. Named in honor of the late Cheyney University Sports Information Director George Heaslip, the award recognizes a media professional for his or her meritorious service while covering the conference’s student-athletes, coaches and teams.
