LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
Kutztown and IUP have been tabbed as the favorites to win the Eastern and Western Divisions, respectively, for the 2016-17 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball campaign.  The annual preseason coaches’ poll was announced by the league Thursday morning.

EASTERN DIVISION
After earning a pair of wins in the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship, Kutztown tops the Eastern Division poll following a 23-7 campaign.

The Golden Bears return four starters to the floor, including All-PSAC First Team senior forward Josh Johnson. Johnson averaged 14.4 points and 8.5 rebounds while the team boasted an 18-4 mark in conference play.

West Chester (23-7, 17-5 East) came in second in the poll.  The Golden Rams return the PSAC Freshman of the Year Malik Jackson, who averaged 15.7 points and 2.8 rebounds.  WCU will also rely on another successful season from Matt Penecale, who set a freshman school record in assists with 143.
