Edinboro Wins Sixth Consecutive PSAC Wrestling Title

RELEASE
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- Edinboro won the PSAC Wrestling Championship for the sixth consecutive year after winning five weight classes at Thomas Fieldhouse Saturday evening in Lock Haven, Pa.
The Fighting Scots (156.5 points) have won 19 titles overall and is tied for the most in PSAC history (Lock Haven). Edinboro set a PSAC record by winning six straight titles.
Clarion’s Evan Delong was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler after claiming the title at 165 pounds and defeating No. 1 Tyler Reinhart of Pitt.-Johnstown in an entertaining bout, 2-1.
Edinboro’s Sean Russell and Korbin Meyers won titles in the 125 and 133 weight class, respectively. Russell is a repeat winner after winning the championship last season.
Lock Haven finished second with 132 points and saw Ronnie Perry capture the 141-pound title. Perry needed 3:06 to earn the tech fall.
Edinboro’s Patricio Lugo ousted Kyle Shoop to win the 149-pound crown while UPJ’s Cody Law handled Chase Delande for the 157 title.
Ty Schoffstall and Dakota Geer of Edinboro earned titles at 174 and 184, respectively.
Shippensburg’s Evan Ramos fended off LHU’s Tristan Sponseller for the 197-pound title, 8-5.
Lock Haven’s Thomas Haines earned a hard-fought win at the heavyweight class against Edinboro’s Billy Miller, 4-3.
Clarion, Bloomsburg and Pitt.-Johnstown rounded out the top five.

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The 74th Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestling Championship will take place Saturday, December 10, at Thomas Fieldhouse on the campus of Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, Pa.
Overall, 12 PSAC teams will be represented and have hopes of claiming the prestigious title.
Action is set to commence at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies and the awarding of the Champion Scholar slated for 6:15 p.m.
The championships rounds will start at 6:30 p.m.
Edinboro has won the event five consecutive times and 10 out of the last 11 years.
In 2015, The Fighting Scots claimed victory with 136.52 points while Lock Haven (118.03) and Mercyhurst (108.54) rounded out the top three.
EU had six individuals win their respective weight class while LHU (133 & 157) had two. Pitt.-Johnstown (184) and Clarion (141) had one each.
Four PSAC teams currently rank in the Top 25 NWCA Coaches' Poll (Nov. 3). UPJ sits at No. 3 while Mercyhurst is No. 4. Seton Hill is tied at No. 11 while and Shippensburg is No. 24.
LHU has claimed 19 PSAC Wrestling titles and Edinboro has 18.
