CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The fields have been set for next week's PSAC Tennis Championships. The women's tournament begins Tuesday, April 26, with a pair of quarterfinal matches hosted by the higher seeds of each contest. Both the men's and the women's semifinals will be held on Friday, April 29, while the championship matches will be on Saturday, April 30. The men’s and women’s semifinals and finals with both be held at Bloomsburg University.
In the men's semifinals, No. 1 Edinboro will battle No. 4 West Chester, and No. 2 Mercyhurst will face No. 3 Bloomsburg.
In the women's tournament, No. 1 seeds California and West Chester each received a bye into the semifinals as the divisional champions. After this year's championship, the Vulcans have earned 12 straight PSAC West titles, while West Chester has now taken the top divisional prize for the second straight year.
No. 2 IUP will play No. 3 Mercyhurst for the fourth consecutive year, while No. 2 Millersville will host No. 3 Bloomsburg in the other quarterfinal. The Marauders and the Huskies met last year in the quarterfinals as well, but the seeds were flipped.
The winner of IUP and Mercyhurst will play West Chester in the semifinals on Friday, while the Bloomsburg and Millersville winner will play California.
A season ago, California's women captured their ninth straight PSAC Women's Tennis Championship title, and the Edinboro men earned the program's second straight league crown after going without one for the previous 37 years.
