LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference will promote its sportsmanship awareness campaign by recognizing 2016-17 Winter Sportsmanship Week from Monday, January 23 through Sunday, January 29.

The PSAC Sportsmanship Week is a campaign to emphasize and promote sportsmanship as it relates to the league’s schools, coaches, student-athletes and fans.  Through releases, social media and the web, the conference and its member institutions showcase their continuous commitment to sportsmanship.

“We’re proud of our PSAC member institutions’ for their continued commitment to sportsmanship, not only during the upcoming week, but throughout the 2016-17 seasons,” said PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray. “It remains of the utmost important in the PSAC, and we will continue to highlight and emphasize its importance to our teams and fans.”

At all PSAC home competitions during Winter Sportsmanship Week, every league team will showcase its continued dedication to sportsmanship by participating in a pregame handshake.

In addition to the teams’ efforts, the conference and member schools will highlight the initiative to fans through releases, social media platforms and official websites.

A total of 50 intercollegiate athletic events are slated during the 2016-17 PSAC Winter Sportsmanship Awareness Week. All winter sports (men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, and men’s and women’s swimming) will be involved.

Updates on PSAC Sportsmanship are periodically posted on psacsports.org, by the league’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts and using #PSACSportsmanship.

The PSAC Sportsmanship Week initiative is a campaign to recognize and promote sportsmanship. During the 2016-17 academic year, three weeks have been tabbed as PSAC Sportsmanship Weeks: October 17-23 (Fall), January 23-29 (Winter) and April 3-9 (Spring).
