IUP Wins PSAC Women's Tennis Title

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- IUP won a second consecutive Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Championship with a 5-0 victory against PSAC West foe Mercyhurst.
The No. 38 ranked Crimson Hawks improved to 19-5 on the season and the Lakers fell to 22-2, both loses coming to IUP.
This is the second PSAC title in school history for IUP and also marked the eighth straight year the Crimson Hawks have played for the conference title. The Crimson Hawks are now 17-6 in PSAC tournament matches since 2011.
Jarka Petercakova, Luise von Agris, and Nicole Beidacki were some of the highlight victories in the singles competition. The Crimson Hawks swept through doubles competition with scores of 8-3, 8-6, and 8-2.
Julia Newman, Mariana Valenzuela and Katya Minchenkova also were victories in singles and doubles competition for IUP.
IUP's von Agris was named Tournament MVP.
Both schools currently rank No. 1 (IUP) and 2 (MU) in regional rankings.
