8940 LACROSSE CO-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Bitka went 3-0 in leading SRU to a home win over Seton Hill and road wins at Millersville and Kutztown this week as SRU jumped back into the playoff race and improved to 8-3. The Amherst Central product made 33 saves over the three games (11.0 per game, .635 sv %), allowing just 19 goals in more than 175 minutes (6.47 GAA), of which seven were on free position attempts. She also recorded 20 ground balls (6.7 per game) and 7 caused turnovers (2.3 per game). She broke the SRU single-season ground balls record (65) with 6 regular season games left and stopped 75% of all free positions faced during the week (21 saves on 28 FPS). Bitka is now leading the nation in ground balls and ranks in top three in save percentage.

Rufolo had 7 goals, 1 assist, a team-high 11 ground balls, 4 caused turnovers, 5 draw controls and just 3 turnovers in a 2-0 week for #20 ESU (7-2, 6-1), which had two wins vs. nationally-ranked opponents (17-12 vs #24 Lock Haven, 14-10 vs #21 IUP) last week. Rufolo had 4 goals, assist, 4 caused turnovers, 7 ground balls, 3 draw controls vs Lock Haven and 3 goals, 4 ground balls, 2 draw controls vs IUP scoring all 3 goals in 2nd half, including go-ahead goal on free position with 13:06 left in part of 6-0 run that turned 9-8 deficit into 14-9 lead. 
 
8454 MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Means recorded the fastest time in the PSAC this season in both the 100- and 200-meter dash and set school records in each event over the weekend while at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary. He broke the school mark in the 200 meters, which has been held since 2006, by seventh-hundredths of a second while in Virginia. Means placed second in the event with a time of 21.17 seconds, which is the fastest time in the league by nearly five-tenths of a second and ranks No. 11 on the national performance list. The Gateway product also tied his own school record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.63 seconds to finish in fourth place in a field of 60-plus sprinters. Means now boasts the top time in the PSAC in the event by over two-tenths of a second. Both his 100 and 200 times are "B" cut times.
   
8948 MEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Davis achieved an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark in the high jump at the Colonial Relays. Davis placed third overall, clearing the bar at 6 feet, 8 ¾ inches. He is currently second in the PSAC and 18th in NCAA Division II. 
  
8947 WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Sciremammano broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles on Friday at the Colonial Relays. She ran 13.93 seconds, the fastest time in the PSAC this season and currently eighth overall in NCAA Division II (provisional qualifier). She finished fourth overall at the event behind three NCAA Division I runners.
   
8522 WOMEN'S OUTDOOR FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Sunflower Greene

Lancaster, Pa / Conestoga Valley


Greene swept the shot put, discus and hammer at the 36th annual Millersville Metrics. Greene set a stadium and meet record in the hammer, hitting a NCAA "B" and season-best mark of 184-10. Greene won the shot put at 47-7 1/4, and she moved up to third in the PSAC in the discus with a toss of 137-3. 
 
8925 MEN'S TENNIS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Munoz went 4-0 last week, including the match-clinching win over Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday. Thursday vs. West Chester, he won in tiebreakers at No. 1 singles. He opened with a 6-2 win, dropped the second set 6-4, and fought back to win 10-5 in the final frame. Munoz also won at No. 3 doubles with teammate David Nunez Contreras, 8-2. Sunday against RWU, pulled out an 8-6 doubles win. At No. 1 singles, he dropped the first set 6-2, but roared back with a 7-5, 10-8 win to seal KU's 6-3 team victory.
 
8929 SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Casey Carpenter

Carpenter helped pace The Haven to a perfect 4-0 record to start Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Central action with sweeps over Bloomsburg and IUP. In all she batted .636 as she drove in eight runs on seven hits while only striking out twice. Highlighting her tremendous play at the dish was game two at BU, where Carpenter went a perfect 3-3 and drove in five RBI’s. In the second game vs IUP) she went 2-3 from the plate including a two-run homer and accounted for two runs.
 
8897 SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Slattery was dominant in her two starts and one relief appearance last week as the Bald Eagles opened up Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Central action with sweeps of both Bloomsburg and IUP. Slattery went 2-0 posting 28 strikeouts in 16 innings of play as she limited opposing batters to a .234 batting average and a 2.62 ERA. She threw two complete game gems as she struck out 12 batters vs BU and then against IUP she fanned 13 hitters. 
   
8930 SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Herion had a strong week this week for West Chester as she recorded 13 hits, eight RBIs, seven runs scored, five doubles and two home runs. Against Kutztown on Thursday Herion was unstoppable as she went a perfect 7-for-7 with four runs scored, seven RBIs, three doubles and two home runs to help lead WCU to a sweep of KU. A day later against Shippensburg, Herion had another strong day as she went 4-for-9 with two runs scored, one RBI and a double to help West Chester pick up a split. Against Millersville on Sunday afternoon Herion went 2-for-6 with one clutch RBI double in game two to tie the game at two and spark a huge nine run fifth inning to help sweep Millersville.
 
8742 SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Houck was a force inside the circle this past week as she went 5-0 allowing just six earned runs while striking out 19 over the course of her 22 innings of work. Houck began her week on Thursday afternoon against Kutztown when she tossed back-to-back five-inning complete games surrendering just three hits and one run in each game while striking out four in game one and one in game two. Houck was back in the circle on Friday afternoon against Shippensburg when she went four innings scattering eight hits and six runs (four earned) while striking out two to help guide WCU to the 10-7 victory. Houck saved her best performance of the week for senior day when she went seven innings in game one scattering nine hits and one unearned runs while recording a season-high 10 strikeouts to pick up the 4-1 complete game victory. Houck entered in relief in game two and managed to work out of a major jam striking out the final two batters of the inning to escape the fifth with little hurt.
 
8931 SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

DeMatteis led Gannon to a six-game win streak and three conference sweep last week when she had a walk-off base hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie and lead Gannon to a 1-0 win against Mercyhurst. She recorded two sacrifice hits in the 4-3 win against Seton Hill in game two. She smacked a solo home run, the first of her career, in a 10-4 win against Seton Hill. She had a multi-hit game, including a double in the 8-2 win against Seton Hill. DeMatteis recorded a three-run double in the 8-2 victory against Slippery Rock.
 
8932 SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

DeMatteis had three wins in three appearances last week. She recorded 12 strikeouts and scattered 16 hits. She tossed a pair of six-hit complete games while earning wins against Seton Hill and Slippery Rock. The freshman earned a win against Mercyhurst after going five strong innings and allowing four hits and a run to go with six strikeouts.
 
8936 BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Exton, Pa. / Dowingtown East


Edgette helped the Huskies take three-out-of-four from East Stroudsburg over the weekend by batting .462 (6-of-13) with six runs scored, one double, one triple, one home run, and three runs batted in during the four-game series. Edgette also stole a base and walked four times for a team-high on-base percentage of .588. His slugging percentage of .923 was also tops on the team for the week. On Friday, Edgette went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and his second home run of the season as the Huskies split the opening doubleheader with the Warriors. On Sunday, Edgette was 4-of-8 with four runs scored and two runs batted in to help Bloomsburg to a sweep at ESU. For the season, Edgette leads the Huskies with a .429 batting average (27-of-63), a .538 on-base percentage, and a .651 slugging percentage.
 
8935 BASEBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Hunter threw a complete-game shutout in the opening game of the Lock Haven series Friday. He allowed five hits with three strikeouts to help KU split its series against nationally-ranked Lock Haven.
 
8821 BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mow led The Rock to a perfect 6-0 record last week with another great offensive performance. Mow hit .421 (8-for-19) with nine runs scored, six RBI, three home runs, a .560 on-base percentage and a 1.053 slugging percentage. Six of his eight hits went for extra bases (three doubles, three home runs). In addition to his eight hits, Mow walked six times from his spot atop The Rock’s batting order. Mow delivered at least one hit in each game and drove in the game-tying hit in SRU’s eventual come-from-behind victory against Pitt-Johnstown that saw SRU battle back from a five-run deficit.
 
8937 BASEBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Riggle earned the complete-game shutout victory in Game 2 on Friday after scattering four hits with zero walks and six strikeouts over 7.0 innings (83 pitches) in a 14-0 win over Clarion. He posted his third-consecutive complete-game and recorded his first collegiate shutout against the Golden Eagles. The Keystone Oaks product leads the team with a 2.58 ERA over 38.1 innings pitched in seven appearances this season.
 
WOMEN'S TENNIS EASTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Bonito won all four of her matches during the week as the Huskies blanked Shippensburg, 9-0, on Thursday and East Stroudsburg, 9-0, on Sunday. On Thursday, Bonito teamed up with senior Catherine Garrity for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Then, in singles, Bonito defeated Kaylin Gallagher in straight sets - 6-1, 6-1 - at No. 1 singles as the Huskies swept the Raiders. On Sunday, Bonito and Garrity outlasted ESU's Elizabeth Bartoli and Devin Presby, 9-8 (7-5), at No. 2 doubles. In singles, Bonito earned a hard-fought three-set victory over Aubrianna Stetina by winning the final two sets to keep the shutout intact. Bonito won 3-6, 6-4, 10-2 to claim the win at #3 singles.

Frost is ranked No. 2 in Atlantic Region singles. The junior turned in a 7-6 (7-3), 6-0 victory over Fairmont State's Heloisa Adams (No. 17 Atlantic singles) during Mercyhurst's 8-1 non-conference win over Fairmont. Frost teamed with partner Adrianna Jeffress for an 8-0 victory in doubles.
