Tom Reisenweber Honored as George Heaslip Award Winner

ERIE, Pa. --- Tom Reisenweber, a Sports Writer for the Erie Times-News has been selected as the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference George Heaslip Media Award Winner, the league announced Friday. Reisenweber received the award on Gannon baseball’s senior day in Erie.
 
Tom entered 2021 and it was his 13th year as a writer, including 10 covering the PSAC. His awards involving PSAC coverage include a pair of 2020 stories: first place Pennsylvania Women’s Press Association for his story on Edinboro women’s basketball player Monica Brown overcoming the loss of her father. He also received a first place Keystone Award.
 
Tom has provided exceptional coverage to the three PSAC programs in northwestern Pennsylvania in Gannon, Edinboro and Mercyhurst.
 
His work not only stretches from PSAC coverage in the northwest, but he has also provided coverage of numerous District 10 athletes who have played for other PSAC institutions.
 
He also has a vast knowledge of social media and the coverage he provides major coverage all PSAC squads and student-athletes in that forum.
 
In addition to his coverage of college athletics, Tom is the main writer for local high schools and also the beat writer for the Erie SeaWolves, a Class AA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
 
ABOUT THE GEORGE HEASLIP AWARD
The PSAC George Heaslip Award, which is chosen annually by the league's sports information directors, is named in honor of the late Cheyney University Sports Information Director George Heaslip. This award recognizes a media professional for his or her meritorious service while covering the conference's student-athletes, coaches and teams.
