West Chester and California, the top two seeds in the tournament, will play for the PSAC championship on Saturday morning after both won their respective semifinal matches on Friday. The top-seeded Golden Rams needed a shootout to top fifth-seeded Slippery Rock while second-seeded California topped third-seeded Kutztown.

Friday - Semifinals
West Chester (17-1-1) scored a goal in the 40th minute by Jessica Bennett but Slippery Rock tied it up just 20 seconds before halftime on a goal by Shelby Ward. The Rock would take a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute on a goal by Rachel Knapp but that lead would be short-lived by Tara Malkiewicz netted the game-tying goal just over five minutes later off a corner kick. After two scoreless overtime periods and six penalty kicks by each team, West Chester prevailed 4-3 in a shootout to advance. Box Score Video of Shootout
Sophomore Kayla Fransko scored the only goal of the game in the second half in the 54th minute to lead California (18-1-1) to a 1-0 win over Kutztown in the second semifinal. The win advances the Vulcans, who are the defending NCAA Atlantic Region champions, to their first-ever PSAC championship game. West Chester was responsible for Cal's only loss this season. Box Score

Three of the top four seeds won their quarterfinal matches on Tuesday afternoon to set up a semifinal Friday that will feature the top three seeds and the No. 5 seed.

Tuesday - Quarterfinals
Top-seeded West Chester (17-1) got a late first-half goal from Melissa McKeary in the 41st minute and that was all it needed as the Golden Rams topped eighth-seeded Shippensburg. It marked the 15th shutout of the year for the Golden Rams in 18 contests. Box Score
Second-seeded California (17-1-1) topped No. 7 IUP 2-0. The Vulcans got goals from Sam Regney in the 31st minute and a goal from Carley Work just after halftime in the 49th minute. It marked the 12th shutout of the year for the Vulcans. Box Score
Kutztown (14-3-2) received a hat trick from Stephanie Borland, who recorded seven points on three goals and an assist to lead the Golden Bears to a 5-1 win over sixth-seeded Edinboro. The third-seeded Bears took a 3-0 lead and never looked back as Borland notched two of her goals in the first half. Box Score
No. 5 Slippery Rock (13-3-3) was the only lower-seeded team to win on Tuesday as The Rock topped Bloomsburg 2-1, rallying from a 1-0 deficit to do so. After the Huskies scored the opening goal in the 20th minute, Rock's Danielle Turner scored both of Rock's goals, one in the 29th minute and the game-winner in the 68th minute. Box Score

Lock Haven, Pa. - The field has been set for the 2010 PSAC women's soccer tournament. Defending tournament champion and preseason favorite West Chester has claimed the No. 1 seed as the regular season champions, while California, the defending NCAA regional champion who was picked second in the preseason poll, is the No. 2 seed.
The eight-team tournament will get underway on Tuesday afternoon with four quarterfinal matches on campus at the site of the higher seed in each matchup. The four winners on Tuesday will advance to the semifinals, which will held on Friday at the site of the highest remaining seed. The championship match is set for Saturday.
