Brownsville, Pa. - Shippensburg runners claimed second through fifth place and all five of its runners whose finishes counted toward the team score finished in the top 10, allowing the Red Raiders to run away with their first PSAC men's cross country championship in school history. The defending NCAA Atlantic Region champions accumulated just 24 points, topping second place and defending champion Lock Haven by 35 points. Edinboro finished a close third to Lock Haven, just two points behind the Bald Eagles.
Edinboro sophomore Scott Anderson won the individual title, coming in first at 26:16 and winning by four seconds over Shippensburg's Stephen Schelander. Bryan Beegle and Matt Gillette finished just tenths of a second behind Schelander for third and fourth, respectively, while the Red Raiders' Josh Neyhart finished fifth, just one second behind Schelander, Beegle and Gillette. Defending individual champion Nick Hilton of Lock Haven came in eighth in 26:31.
The team win by Shippensburg marks the first team title by a team other than Lock Haven or Edinboro since Slippery Rock in 1991.
