Lock Haven, Pa. - For the second straight season, a former PSAC football player will play in the Super Bowl, as 2006 Bloomsburg graduate Jahri Evans, an All-Pro offensive guard for the New Orleans Saints, will take part in Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday in Miami.
Evans is believed to be the second Bloomsburg alumnus to take part in a Super Bowl and the 10th all-time alum of a PSAC school to take part on football's biggest stage. Former Husky tackle Eric Jonassen was on the roster of the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX.
This will be the second straight season that the PSAC has had a representative on the field for the Super Bowl. Clarion alum Reggie Wells was a starting guard last year for the Arizona Cardinals. The two straight years with an alum playing in the Super Bowl follows a drought of 10 years, as prior to last season, a PSAC alum had not taken part in the Super Bowl since Kutztown's John Mobley played for the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXIII.
This year's Super Bowl will 12th all-time Super Bowl that has featured an alum of a PSAC school. Both Mobley and fellow Kutztown alums Doug Dennison and Andre Reed played in multiple Super Bowls.
