PSAC Softball Athletes of the Week - 3
Lock Haven, Pa. - Outstanding performances were plentiful last week in PSAC softball as most of the PSAC’s teams went south for games during spring break. East Stroudsburg’s Brittany Racek is the PSAC East Player of the Week after hitting .500 while Katlin Arbogast of Kutztown is the Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week after pitching in all six of KU’s game last week. Bloomsburg’s Danielle Lazorka is the Central Player of the Week after hitting .591 over BU’s spring break while Mansfield’s Caitlin Klobosits is the Central Pitcher of the Week after going 4-0 to help the Mountaineers to a record-tying start to their season. Mercyhurst’s Amber Rapose is the West Player of the Week after helping the Lakers to a 3-1 week while Shauna Walker of Slippery Rock is the West Pitcher of the Week after not allowing any runs in 12 innings of work.
PSAC East Player of the Week
Brittany Racek, East Stroudsburg

Racek hit .500 (9-for-18) with five extra-base hits in six games with five runs and two RBI, a 1.056 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage in a 2-4 week for the Warriors. She hit safely in five of the six games and had a nine-game hitting streak prior to the final game of the week. Racek went a combined 4-for-7 with a home run and three runs in a sweep of Mars Hill, which was 11-1 going into the twinbill. She also went 2-for-3 and was responsible for ESU’s only run with a homer in a loss to Lenoir-Rhyne and had two doubles and a run in a one-run loss to West Virginia State.
PSAC East Pitcher of the Week
Katlin Arbogast, Kutztown

Appearing in all six of Kutztown’s games last week, Arbogast went 3-1 with three complete games, a shutout and a save as she helped lead the Golden Bears to a 5-1 record on their spring break trip. Arbogast compiled a 1.24 ERA in 29.0 innings of work, allowing just four earned runs, seven runs, 14 hits and nine walks while striking out 40. She started the week with a six-inning complete game, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out eight in a loss to Grand Valley State. Later in the day on Monday, she picked up the save in a win over Assumption, going 2.1 innings out of the bullpen and not allowing a single hit or run. On Tuesday, she tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout, striking out 11 in a win over St. Joseph’s and then worked 5.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out nine to pick up the win over Post. Arbogast then finished the week on Thursday by throwing three innings in a no-decision against Bentley, a game that Kutztown won, and then threw her third complete game in a four-day span by striking out eight and allowing just one earned run in a five-inning win over West Liberty.
PSAC Central Player of the Week
Danielle Lazorka, Bloomsburg

Lazorka hit .591 (13-for-22) with four RBI and nine runs scored to help lead Bloomsburg to a 5-2 record on its spring break trip. The infielder hit in six of seven games, including five multi-hit games. She went 2-for-4 with two runs against West Liberty and over the final three games of the trip, went a combined 8-for-8 with five runs and two RBI. That included 3-for-3 with a pair of runs against St. Joseph’s, 3-for-3 with two RBI against Nyack and 2-for-2 with two runs against Queens (NY).
PSAC Central Pitcher of the Week
Caitlin Klobosits, Mansfield
Freshman, P
Coplay, Pa./Whitehall
Klobosits helped Mansfield to a school-record tying 9-0 start to the season by going 4-0 with a 0.61 ERA in 23.0 innings in what was a 7-0 week for the Mountaineers. The freshman southpaw allowed just two earned runs in her 23 innings while scattering 14 hits. She threw a five-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts in a win over Eastern Nazarene. She also struck out seven and allowing just one run in a one-run win over Gettysburg, and also had seven strikeouts while allowing just four hits and one unearned run in a complete game win over Randolph College.
PSAC West Player of the Week
Amber Rapose, Mercyhurst
Senior, OF
Conneaut, Ohio/Conneaut
Rapose helped Mercyhurst to a 3-1 week by hitting .385 (5-for-13) with a double, home run, four RBI and two runs scored. She had a .692 slugging percentage and a .429 on-base percentage. She had a hit and scored a run in a win over Glenville State and then went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBI, which came on a three-run homer, in a 6-4 win over West Virginia State. In a 1-0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan, she threw out a runner at home and then helped the Lakers win the second game against WVW by going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
PSAC West Pitcher of the Week
Shauna Walker, Slippery Rock
Junior, P
Kittanning, Pa./Elderton
Walker went 2-0 and did not allow a single run in 12.0 innings of work as she helped pitch The Rock to a pair of wins in Florida in its spring break trip. She allowed nine hits and struck out 12 while walking just two. Walker threw a complete game shutout to help Slippery Rock to a 1-0 win over C.W. Post, scattering eight hits and one walk while striking out seven. Against Fayetteville State, Walker pitched five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out five to pick up the win.
