Slippery Rock's Laura Handy and Bloomsburg’s Katie Hasyn both had impressive weeks on their way to earning accolades as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in Women’s Tennis.

Slippery Rock's Laura Handy was unbeaten last week going 10-0 in five number one singles matches and five number one double matches to lead The Rock to a record of 5-0 on the week against three PSAC West foes and two teams ranked in ITA regional poll in #7 Charleston and #10 IUP. Handy won by an impressive average score of 6-2, 6-2 in singles matches and 8-2 in doubles matches with her partner Dunja Drmac. Handy won one singles match by 6-0, 6-0 scores and two by 6-1, 6-1 scores and also won two doubles matches by 8-1 scores and one by an 8-2 score. She led The Rock to two 9-0 wins over Clarion and Allegheny, a 5-0 win over Shippensburg, an 8-1 win over IUP, and a 7-2 win over Charleston.

Bloomsburg senior Katie Hasyn went an overall 4-0 this past week for the Huskies with wins over West Chester and Millersville. Hasyn was 2-0 while playing at number one singles, which included a 6-0, 6-1 win over Millersville. In doubles play, Hasyn also went 2-0 at number two including an 8-3 win against West Chester as the Huskies gained sole possession of first place in the PSAC East. Hasyn has won her past five singles matches this year as well as going 4-1 in doubles over that span.
