California's Jade Pondicas and Bloomsburg’s Laura Sullivan both had impressive weeks on their way to earning accolades as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in Women’s Tennis.

California's Pondicas went a combined 2-0 this past week and helped the Lady Vulcans clinch their sixth-straight PSAC West title with an 8-1 victory over Slippery Rock on Wednesday. In singles play, Pondicas posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout sweep of Slippery Rock’s Jessica Hilborn at the fifth position. The freshman from South Africa now holds an 18-2 overall record in singles after winning 15 consecutive matches. Pondicas and sophomore Anastassiya Zherdeva teamed up to post an 8-4 victory at third doubles over Slippery Rock’s team of Janelle Krantz and Sarah Lynch.

Bloomsburg’s Laura Sullivan went a combined 6-0 this past week, helping the Huskies to a 3-0 record on the week improving to 13-3 on the season. Sullivan played at number two singles in which she won all three of her matches, dropping a total of just ten games against some very solid competition. In doubles play, Sullivan teamed with Andrea Malatesta at the number three doubles position to win all of their matches, losing a total of just seven games along the way. The week improves Sullivan to a season record of 14-4 in singles competition while playing primarily at number two. She is also 11-8 in doubles, going 10-6 with Malatesta.
