Millersville - 2011 PSAC Men's Soccer Champions
Millersville Captures First PSAC Men's Soccer Title
Box Score
Millersville, Pa. - Millersville senior midfielder Pat Baffuto, making his third appearance of his career in the PSAC men's soccer championship game, tapped in a pass off a header for the only goal of the game in the 18th minute and that was the only goal of the game as the Marauders hung on to top Bloomsburg 1-0 and claim the program's first PSAC championship.
The goal-scoring play started on a free kick that was taken by Colby Zeger. The free kick was headed to the center of the box by Aaron Roland, where Baffuto was waiting to tap it in for the goal.
The Marauders outshot Bloomsburg 15-8 while Marauder keeper Brad Benzing made five saves and Husky keeper Bernei Roell made four saves.
For scoring the game-winning goal, Baffuto was named the tournament MVP. Millersville will now await its NCAA playoff fate. There are no automatic berths in the Division II men's soccer tournament but the Marauders are almost assured of a berth after winning the conference tournament and being ranked first in the last regional poll that came out earlier this week.
