Mercyhurst’s Michael Baxter has been named PSAC Wrestling Athlete of the Week for going 2-0 and being a crucial force in the Lakers’ successful weekend.

Baxter helped the Lakers to a 1-0-1 record this past weekend, posting two individual wins during his 133lb bouts. The Sandusky, Ohio native broke a 9-9 tie with a 7-2 decision win over West Liberty’s Pete McAtee. The win jump started a Lakers run of three consecutive match wins. On Saturday, the Lakers battled to an 18-18 tie against No.15 Findlay. After falling behind to the Roughnecks in the first match, Baxter delivered a pin at the 4:30 mark that gave the Lakers six valuable points toward the tie against the No.15 ranked team in the nation. Baxter also recorded the only fall on the match. Baxter has caught fire as of late and is currently on a six match win streak heading into the NCAA East regional.
